Im shocked that nobody has picked up or noticed the bad gesture or lack of respect and poor sportsmanship shown by the glenties players and backroom team after the game on sunday.. After every single final for as far back as i can remember, the beaten finalists stayed out on the pitch after the game and had the manners to wait for the presentation and showed a bit of respect and clapped their opposition as they did so..This is poor form on behalf of the glenties outfit..Im also led to believe that nobody from their squad or backroom team went in the victorious dressing room either to speak which is also a big tradition in the game... eunans4ever (Donegal) - Posts: 1693 - 07/10/2009 20:23:41 447999 Link 0 |
I noticed they didn't stay on pitch alright and apparently only one player or maybe it was Corey went upstairs to Bar after, not sure about dressing room thing but am sure they must have been gutted at losing. Does anyone know if Eunan's stayed on field in 2005 ? BlackandAmber14 (Donegal) - Posts: 294 - 07/10/2009 21:31:44 448069 Link 0 |
Could you blame them after the behavior of st Eunans captain. Why should they stay for Devenny's speech. Rf (Donegal) - Posts: 291 - 07/10/2009 22:02:56 448111 Link 0 |
Going by all the other posts by eunan i am asking that this be the last reply that he gets. He must have nothing else to do but try and wind up people. He must be out of work and to much time on his hands. So lets everybody stop replying to him! THE EXTRAMAN (Donegal) - Posts: 554 - 07/10/2009 22:15:00 448122 Link 0 |
Totally agree with you's!! And yes Eunans did stay on the pitch in 2005 and yes their supporters still shook their hands an commiserated with them. StEunan (Donegal) - Posts: 67 - 07/10/2009 22:18:24 448125 Link 0 |
Devenney's behaviour, which was ? How about Leon Thompson when being subbed was offered a handshake by David McGinley and he deciced to hit McGinley instead ?? DV took a bow - he's earned it over 10 county finals - players react in the heat of the moment and they celebrate, big deal. Agree totally Eunans4ever, it is VERY DISRESPECTFUL. They should all be giving 10 slaps for there behavior, and the Eunans Players and supporters should all be giving gold stars. Leon Thomson should be made stand in the corner, and jim and corry should be reported to the board of management. And if NC do a repeat of this behavior the should all be giving a 1000 lines each to write, I MUST NOT DISRESPECT EUNANs. I am sure your looking forward to that gold star already eunans4ever. well done kid. The keeper (Donegal) - Posts: 711 - 07/10/2009 23:43:04 448246 Link 0 |
Maybe it was bad sportsmanship but I feel when teams lose county finals, they only stay out as they are expected to because its tradition. After losing a county final does the losing team really care or want to see the cup been raised by their opponents, I doubt it. Saw the incident between McGinley and Thompson, to say he hit him is bit of an exaggeration, he merely pushed him away. Not condoning it as I thought it was bad form on Leon's part but to say he hit McGinley is a bit extreme. Number1-15 (Donegal) - Posts: 36 - 08/10/2009 00:23:35 448271 Link 0 |
I was on the field after with glenties team, only 3 of them left,so who ever thinks glenties left before cup was lifted is talking rubbish...!And that is fact, stag.31 (Donegal) - Posts: 99 - 08/10/2009 11:09:56 448450 Link 0 |
They all left actually i was standing near enough where they were. They even left before DV says three cheers for Glenties. Waken up. StEunan (Donegal) - Posts: 67 - 08/10/2009 13:07:28 448557 Link 0 |
To be honest, if I was playing I would leave before the three cheers bit myself. As if any team wants to hear three cheers for them from the team that has just beaten them in the county final. It's a bit embarrassing really and the only reason it is done is cos it's tradition. I don't think anyone would be that bothered if Brendan Devenney didn't say three cheers to Glenties in his speech or maybe Brendan only did the three cheers part cos he was afraid that someone would start a thread on Hoganstand about his speech if he didn't conform!! Get over it lads. Number1-15 (Donegal) - Posts: 36 - 08/10/2009 15:58:57 448749 Link 0 |

I was chatting to a eunans player during the week and he said that cathal corey did speak to the eunans team afterwards and was very gracious in defeat and he said that he was very complimentary about the eunans team and their performance on the day and wished them the best of luck in ulster Top_Dog (Donegal) - Posts: 73 - 08/10/2009 23:27:07 449247 Link 0 |
st eunan, just stick to bebo or facebook. stag.31 (Donegal) - Posts: 99 - 08/10/2009 23:55:57 449268 Link 0 |
Sure everyone knows that Top_Dog, 99% of the NC player's stayed out on the field for the handing over of the Cup, and Corry did go into the Eunan's dressing rooms to wish them luck in Ulster. These idiot's calling NC unsporting in defeat, well there is nothing worse than bad winner's. Rather that enjoying Eunan's victory, they are more interested in slating NC. With the exception of Pointer who has talked sence, the rest are as extraman said uneducated lads on the dole who have nothing better to do. Look the Glenties players were gutted they were probably left a bit isolated after the match as only some supporters came to console them but they did stay out on the pitch for a good while in fairness to them and were gracious in defeat. As a GAA person I wouldn't be a great admirer of gestures like bowing or blowing kisse's after scoring as Joe Brolly really used to **** me of with this type of behaviour so no need for DV to be at that in this stage of his playing days but thats my opinion after all he was captain of my clubs senior team therefore I would expect a certain standard of maturity.Next year I would hope the captaincy role is awarded to Rory Kavanagh who has played his heart out in the Club colours to be followed by Conal Dunne another player who gives 100%. not picking any sides cause im nuetral, but the first thing i noticed after the game was glenties going straight to the tunnel and only a handful or if that many shook hands with the eunans players which i thought was a bit low. topdawg (Donegal) - Posts: 30 - 09/10/2009 15:52:07 449741 Link 0 |
How many times, only 3 of them left the field before the cup was lifted i was sat along with them. And as for shaking hands what do ya want them to do,run round after the eunans boys, who were rightly celabrating their victory.its normaly the winners who seek out the beating teams hand who,s players are sat head in hands on the ground. And to be fair mcginely ,mcClafarty and a few more did.lets just move on now. good luck to eunans in ulster stag.31 (Donegal) - Posts: 99 - 09/10/2009 16:31:14 449810 Link 0 |
