This is a great book. Its even better than great. Its a great oul whinge from a lot of people as well. Nobody is safe. The County board, Pat Horan, Even RTE for leaving out Ciarans point and Denis Walsh for not covering Limerick in Hurling the Revolution years. Its a gas read. Theres 26 pages from the players themselves on winning the Munster final and the All Ireland in 1973. Then theres 16 pages on what it was like to lose the 1994 All Ireland final again all from the players themselves. Theres a massive 28 pages on losing the final to Wexford in 1996. This is a dream book. The photographs are class. My two favourites are the one of George O Connor skelping Sean O Neill at the throw in for the 1996 All Ireland final and the one of a gutted Eamon Cregan after losing the 1994 final.

The 20 questions were the most pathetic questions ever asked. The County board should have been voted out there and then. I can imagine the reaction from Ger Loughnane if he was asked them in Clare.

It was a massive honour to make the nominations list though, coming from nowhere like I did. Brendan Fullam wrote an excellent book which didnt make the list of nominations and he is a writer with a proven track record over many years. The real honour for me was being received well by all my interviewees and receiving their help for what will be a fantastic historical record of Limerick hurling for years to come. Without them there would have been no book

This book is a fantastic read. Anyone who says that it isn't clearly hasn't read it. It's great to read the actual views of some of the greatest names that played and managed the county over the last 50 - 60 years. One thing that is very obvious is that the county board have had way too much say into the team's affairs since the days of Canon Punch. I think the average Joe like myself will be genuinely shocked at the input they had including the debacle over Mike Galligan's substitution in 1996. It seems there was always an agenda of power with the county board and only for Tom Ryan being as stubborn and as ignorant as he had to be, they would never have gotten anywhere. If I'm understanding it correctly, Ger Loughnane (no relation) was correct in saying that Limerick are 'unmanageable'. Between county board officials wanting all the power taken away from the manager and players not accepting that they are not good enough and subsequently causing other players to quit the panel, anyone would be crazy to want to be manager of Limerick. Tom Ryan is one of the few guys that was able to stand up to the bulls**t. I rarely agree with what he says in the media these days but I have a new found respect for the way he managed Limerick as noone had done it before or since and that was to rule with an iron fist and he wasn't afraid of the county board politics. Ryan is bang on when he states that the county board officials are 'only f***in' penny boys. That's all they were and all they'll ever be'... I emplore anyone to read this for Tom Ryan's views alone...

Frankies equaliser wasnt a goal, remember the famous commentary.

"Instead its downfield......Who gets it, its Mike Galligan....stopped by three or four Tipperary players......out it comes......Foley......out as far as Frankie Carroll......one sub to another, Can Frankie be the hero here? He CAN, HE'S PUT IT OVER THE BAR, AND LIMERICK FANS SALUT THAT POINT BY FRANKIE CARROLL. His second point of the secodn half ties it up. There can hardly be much more left in this"

It can be found here on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMFQOyEbpQc
