Re:Auldfella. No, simply because he was the best player in the championship this year, along with the sub Dublin keeper.

Omaghredhand, you have Karl Lacey in your team at corner back then have an honourable mention for him

Only one All star nomination means he is a cert for an All Star.
2001 Westmeath 1 Nomination 1 All star
2002 Sligo 1 Nomination 1 All Star
2003 Tipperary 1 Nomination 1 All Star
2004 Wexford 1 Nomination 1 Allstar
2006 Donegal 1 Nomination 1 Allstar
2007 Monaghan 1 Nomination 1 Allstar

John Galvin deserves it .he out fielded both of ork midfielders in the munster final and has played well in all games this yr.

Have to agree that Galvin deserves an all-star. He is a hugely under rated player and was fantastic this year.

Denzel: Interesting theory, crap, but interesting. Monaghan had 4 nominations in 2007.

Not too worried about the All Stars to be honest - would rather 15 All-Ireland medals any day. I guess it means that Meath are not rated by the media in general who think our run this year was down to an easy path. They are entitled to that arguement but there is a lack of consistency in that opinion giving other up for consideration.
I'll be straight up and say I didn't think we'd get an All Star this year. Harrington or O'Connor, Ward and Sheridan, and Crawford prior to his poor semi-final I thought were a fair bet for a nomination.
But to my fellow Meath gaels, if we have slipped so far down the ladder that we feel our worth is determined by the number of 'nominations' we receive - well then, things are worse than I thought!

Nigel Crawford outfieled John Galvin in Portlaoise and the only few balls he caught was when he fouled him.Total Disgarace these journalist don't have aclue,Two,Wicklow ,Limerick and Mayo players and Meath beat Limerick and Mayo.

Nobody is saying that, in fact its a pretty silly way of looking at things. Crawford had his best year since he first arrived on the scene over ten years ago. You would think he would have been rewarded accordingly but he wasn't even worthy of a nomination! Harrington, Kenny and McGuinness all stood out at many stages of the league and championship as well and they aren't getting their just recognition either. That is the problem here, nothing to do with slipping down any ladders. It would be nice if the players were rewarded for their performances.

This Meath panel will be more concerned with winning a Leinster next year and getting back to Croke Park for the third Sunday in September than they will be with All Stars.

ha,ha, they wont get near any of the above! 22 all irelands must hurt.

came in half way through the season how does he deserves one of harrington who played well in league and championship come on please.

By being the best Centre Back in the country along with Canty. Maybe that's good enough? No?

My point is he came in halfway through the season and should not be on that list before harrington who played all year and out of his skin as well.

Not to worried SuperDub, despite your 5 Leinsters in a row I would consider Meath to have been considerably more successful than Dublin in my lifetime. Ye had a nice team back in the 1920s but sadly I cannot recall much from the era.The next few years will see Meath back at the top of the game alongside cork. Moveover Tyrone and Kerry, your day is done. The Dubs I would put in the same bracket as Mayo (enough said). Galway and Armagh could be the dark horses to challange the big two............

In my view,in the 3 games on tv that i saw crawford in this year,no way did he do anything to deserve being nominated for an all-star,and i have stated this a number of times already,he simply is no use.im not saying that the all-star process isnt flawed, but usually near enough the best team is nominated.as for cian ward, could someone please tell me what he scored from play in the championship this year(genuine query).

Meath may have reached the semis but overall really there were 6/7 teams better than them.

Once you made this statement, your post lost all credibility. How exactly do you think you can judge a player after only seeing him play 3 games this season on TV? I assume your still basing your opinion on his performances last season when it looked like he may be on his way out. I've been to all but one Meath game this year and he's been consistantly one of Meath's best players. Definately Meath's most improved player.

6-7 teams better than Meath this year. Kerry, Cork, Tyrone? Dublin?. Possibly four and I would really fancy our chances against the last two. People seem to take Pat Spillane and Joe Brolly's views on Meath as sacrosanct, without having gone to any games that Meath were involved in. Harrington, Kenny,Crawford, Ward and Byrne definitely desrerved mominations along with Joe. Crawford totally outplayed Galvin down in Portlaoise and yet Galvin gets an All Star nomination.
