One All Star Nomination for Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The final nail in the coffin of the All Stars, the guys who pick these teams have not got a clue. Nigel Crawford is not even nominated! Are you serious!? He has been our best player all year, how can he not recieve a nomination? I'm not being funny but the best midfielder I seen this year was Crawford. Cormac McGuinnes, a revelation at CHB not a word about him? Bernard Brogan and Colm Cooper recieve nominations yet Eoin Harrington who put the shackles on both players does not merit even a nomination. Well done to Joe Sheridan on his nomination.

Loyal

Ignoring the player side - to take the John O Mahoney view Meath as Semi finalists should have 3/4 nominations with one all star - if any previous methodology was copied. so yes Meath loo harsh done by -especially Crawford. Donegal got two as expected - I would also have Barry Dunnion in the mix but we might come out with one - maybe Murphy rather than Lacey (purely becase he already has one)

B Brogan ?
Gooch ?
Barry cahill - got a goal whee the defender was doing jumping jacks ?
Davy harte ?
Tommy Griffin ?

Its strange decision overall with just one Meath player there but did many more deserve one more so than players picked? I'm not saying Meath players don't deserve one, I totally agree I thought Harrington was very impressive this year..

Very dissapointing and very unfair, we beat Limerick in Round 4 of the qualifiers and Mayo in the quarters and they get two nominations each. Meath players deserve better than this for their overall improvement and for reaching the semis for the second time in three years!!

V disappointed. Does not reflect the improvement and performances of Meath this year. Glad joe got the nod at least.
At least all us Meath supporters know the effort the lads put in....what a great summer we had!

In fairness declan their job is not too please people its to be honest and objective and fair to the players though i take and accept your point that we have hassle every year though it seems to be getting worse as the years go on.

Loyal, I keep telling you.

Brian Whelehan won an all star at FULL FORWARD and only played the position for 35 minutes in the season.

They just go for a name. They nominated MICHAEL McCann from Antrim, simply because they thought they needed to nominate one player and as he won some obscure player of the month award they picked him because they hadn't heard of anyone else. Bat the Tribune who actually had Loughrey on their team of the year.

By the way, if I was picking a BEST team for the year I would not have any Antrim players on.
