Rumour has it that st. marys are contimlating not fielding a team for the upcoming u-21 championship. with the recent closure of there pitch for redevelopment on the surface which leaves them idle a pitch to train and also the shock departure of breain farrell to leitrim gaels and also ray mulvey and liam mc tiernan turning to soccer. its a shame to lose these vital players. Wouldnt suprise me if they dont field a team. there must be no recession in carrick if they can undertake a new pitch - will they make a balls of this attempt as well. As for shock transfers - cant transfer yet(rules) not sure if he intends to tho. Sheemore Gaels (Leitrim) - Posts: 74 - 09/09/2009 13:07:51 420443 Link 0 |
what about camber gaels.....?? hancock (Leitrim) - Posts: 37 - 25/09/2009 00:04:39 435968 Link 0 |
Is there any date set 4 the start of the championship or when the draw will be made?. As for shock transfers, I hardly think farrel will be one of them. Not gona happen, dunno where u got ur sources but not a chance. Will Manor win it? It seems highly likely. LeitrimLover (Leitrim) - Posts: 120 - 02/10/2009 03:02:21 442685 Link 0 |

Outheragh Gaels in "A" and Melvin Gaels in "B"..... How are Melvin in B did they not do pretty good in A last year remember them beating a strong mohill+eslin team MouseMat (Leitrim) - Posts: 89 - 07/10/2009 10:01:54 447196 Link 0 |
From looking at the draw i can definately see st. mrys beating manor for the first time in a while ad breaking the duct. Cant see anyone marking the attack st. marys pocess as they have scoring forwards all over the pitch and with ray mulvey playing the best i have ever seen i can see him giving paddy maguire a real reality check, he will take some stopping. Manor very 1 dimensional with all there attacks will be going into croal who conor guckian should put the shackles on him and if limited to 3 points, marys should do the business. Can see marys going all the way. Anyone agree? shlitorocht (Wexford) - Posts: 36 - 07/10/2009 16:35:58 447720 Link 0 |
I wouldnt be so confident about carrick. manor look very strong. Theyll have Aaron Hickey on the 40 (senior starter), Croal full forward (senior starter and senior county starter next year), Alan Hickey in mid field, James O'Brien Centre back (came on in every championship game this year if im not mistaken), paddy maguire full back (club player of the year 2009) and Shane Sweeney in goals (senior starter). Add to this a number of players whove played in an u21 final last year and new minors coming through. I expect manors dominance of carrick to continue for another year at least. Theyve only lost 3 players from last years team. AussieUpOver (Leitrim) - Posts: 30 - 08/10/2009 10:59:53 448437 Link 0 |
I watched aaron hickey and james o brien in the minor game against s. marys a few weeks ago and they had such little impact on the game i had to be reminded that they were still playing.dDont get me wrong but cant see there defence holding david tiernan, liam mc tiernan, breain farrell, alan doherty and niclaus mc weeney all senior players this year and with duggie in goals and conor guckian at full back an a few good intermediate players it give them a good platform to build on. Should be a great game but can definately see st. marys nicking it. shlitorocht (Wexford) - Posts: 36 - 08/10/2009 15:15:29 448682 Link 0 |

Had a chuckle when I read some of the comments from one of the Carrick supporter. Your assumption that Carrick will defeat Manor is flawed for a number of reasons. Firstly you seem to be basing Carricks supposed strenght on a forward line that was "successful from under 12 to minor" though they lost both league and championship at minor level and also lost the under 16 championship final to Balinamore with this age group. Past Underage results count for little at senior level which Under 21 effectively is if the players are not integrated into a senior setup that eradicates the flaws developed during underage. The forwards you have mentioned have not and many will not succeed at senior level due over reliance on a left foot or on head down trying to run though or around people regardless of better options been available elsewhere on the pitch. Manor have players who have preformed at senior level and I expect them to contest under 21 finals in the future St Marys may not. Balinamore and their merge team may win again this year but as I have stated previously on this forum it will count for little at senior level for them because half the team that win are from another club vice versa. They are not developing enough good players to win a senior championship. Melvin Gaels Bornacoola will be strong in their grades. jmorr (Leitrim) - Posts: 75 - 08/10/2009 23:48:47 449263 Link 0 |
Lets just say john, i have noticed uv sent a few questional posts on ths forum but i must say this i one of your worst. ul b plesently surprised. U may be right about oughteragh being strong but as for manor, they were the one team st. marys wanted shlitorocht (Wexford) - Posts: 36 - 09/10/2009 12:37:25 449507 Link 0 |
Sliochtrocht I hope for your sake that if you are playing against manor that you're not on James O'Brien. He had a super game when he came in, don't know how you can possibly even contemplate that he was non-existent. FrChewyLooey (Leitrim) - Posts: 123 - 09/10/2009 12:45:52 449516 Link 0 |
What exactly have been my questionable posts. Recently I stated that Glencar Manor where the best club team in Leitrim since Aleen Gaels and guess what they just recently completed two in a row to back up and give credence to my point. I also stated that in my own humble opinion Kiltubrid were slightly overrated and would not defeat Melvin Gaels which in turn proved to be a correct judgement. I believe what I have suggested about St Marys is correct but nowhere in my post did I say St Marys would not defeat Manor as anything can happen on any given day but I did state that in the future Manor may contest under21 finals and St Marys may not. Tell me how is a certain man 'I will not use names as it is not fair to engage in personal attacks' who uses his right foot only for standing on going to seriously cause Manor much problems. Again you have mentioned other names players who can only run with their head down and have no awareness of how space can be utilized. Some of St Marys forwrds I admit have some pace but nothing that Manor or anyother half decent team cannot deal with. How many of the St Marys forwards you talk about can boost of senior success. And lastly Marys do not have the defenders to deal with Manors best attacker full stop. jmorr (Leitrim) - Posts: 75 - 09/10/2009 13:01:38 449530 Link 0 |
Exactly John Morrison. Your right!! Dan_Toal (Leitrim) - Posts: 244 - 09/10/2009 15:35:49 449704 Link 0 |
