kilmurray..
adrian varley along with his school mates did not attend trialls...what gives them a divine right to walk onto a county team without triall... i can assure you this does not happen in kerry/tyrone

maybe galway should be allowed split in to county and west. both sides get what they want then

lads im sorry to kill this "jarlaths rant" mood but it seems ye're going to need the lads whether ye like it or not, jarlaths defeated geralds today in the league semi final, geralds had 7 members of last years mayo minor team playing, enough said.

great comment there mcloven.. Galway minor would be a disaster this year without any jarlaths lads. Its well known that jarlaths always train a lot harder than any other galway college so why should they be burned out even before the minor intercounty? And this has been happening for years now so i dont know why theres such a big deal made out of it this year.. I reckon around 10 jarlaths lads will make the cut.

ye city lads are just sickened that yere going to be forgetting about when jarlaths decide to turn up. first to admit that its unfair but trainin in september is a joke. the thing about it is that they can and none of ye will change it. north galway is the home of galway football and traditon talks so dont try and rubbish it. and oranmoreboy that was a joke i made in a previous comment. sarcasm i believe they call it.

Thats a a very arrogant reply to an issue that more then likely has nothing to do with you, you obviously have some sort of chip on your shoulder regarding city and west players. How can you claim North Galway as being superior, there is equally talent in both sides of the county. A school like Jarlaths has a history of being a great footballing school, i commend them for this, but you must remember that history does not write the future. The players who you think are good enought to play minor for galway, are'nt the people who gave jarlaths the respected name it has today for football. So may i ask you what gives these players on the jarlath senior team of 09/10 the right to avoid trials and have the ignorance to belive they should be allowed walk on to a Galway Minor team?

because they train a lot more than any other college team and would simply be overwhelmed by training if they had to play galway minor as well.

prioritising is the biggest word for people in jarlaths. hogan or minor. no need to answer that if your in jarlaths. when hogan finishes then im sure they will priorotise galway minor but as is often said dont look too far in to the future or you'll loose track of the present. what they're doing at the moment(abstening from playing) is to prioritise hogan what is the major thing for them right now. player welfare that great buzz word is being eradicated if the play both. im afraid ye will just have to wait until the jarlaths lads join ye id advise marys to do the same bacause the lads will loose interst trainin for something in september that begins in may.

Lads lets put the whole jarlaths debate to an end. The reality is that Galway minor will need at least 6 or 7 of them. The likes of Niall Quinn, Ian Burke, Conor Keady, Robert Kelly, David Mannion, Eanna Donnelan, Adrian Varley and Paul Varley are all playing fantastic football and it would be difficult to see them excluded from the panel come the beginning of the championship in May.

I must also agree with Mcloven. From what I have heard Geralds in Castlebar did have 7 of May minor team from last year and even though Jarlaths did not play particularly well they still managed a comprehensive win. The Jarlaths team fielded on the day was also a weakened side missing several key players. I was not at the match and so do not know for certain but it seems to me that these Jarlaths players cannot be over looked if the Galway Minor panel wishes to have the strongest possible panel for the championship.

The galway minor system is a disgrace. Galway have the the biggest pick of players in connacht and when it comes to connacht we struggle to beat sligo and roscoman and mayo. if you look at our minor hurlers ya dont see them tranin this time of the year. they have reached 8 minor all-irelands in row. jarlaths lads are rite to not go trainin. the mary lads shouldnt go tranin either. i didnt see the manager at the jarlaths vs marys this year. good managers would have gone to that match. St Geralds have 7 minors from last year on the mayo team. with the talent i saw there Galway should beat Mayo of the field. what is happining in galway is an ordinary mayo team are betting a galway taleted team. I say fair play to mayo but its time for galway to get some cop-on and players should be resting this time of year. this is a serious issue in galway and its time we do something about it.

great comment howsurturnips hnopefully a few more people see it from this side and if not at least see where we are coming from. if lads are doing some sort of trainin-even gym then thers no point groupin together until the end of february and train as a team not a bit part development side.

The point is Jarlaths' lads don't deserve to be on the current panel if they don't attend the trials.
