Trials are to see how good players are. The magement team would go to school games if they were so interested. and Galway11 your just sickned because you wont make the team and some of the jarlaths lads will.

howsurturnips, the reason I didn't make the panel is because I didn't attend. I'm overage.
I'm not sayin that the Jarlaths' lads aren't good enough, they have a few players who should without a doubt be on it and a few who have a chance. Having said that why should these lads be on the panel when they don't attend trials? The school does take its gaelic seriously and its good to see but they are living of the past reputation when they had the borders. What other school in Galway or any county denies there best players the chance to play county minor football?

If you look at corofin they dont attend galway senior tranin due to club commitments. I can tell you that joe kernan does be at corofin matches and other club matchs. compared to jarlaths it should be the same situation. jarlaths have asked the galway minors for a plan of the year ahead but they couldnt because they dont have one. as i siad before let the manager go to the matches. Do ye actully think there should be trials in octobor 09 when the championship starts in may 09???

how often do marys train? not fair if they trainin 3 times and twice with galway. they're young lads love football but get bored of the same thing without a short term goal of matches that are of relevance. im alll for getting a team early and developing them but that is done in a controlled environment where players only have one team or sport, we have lads with bundles of talent that just need leadership and direction not relentless trainin in winter.

i wouldnt agree with that at all - ok mayo have not done the business on all ireland final day but they have been in half of all the minor finals in the last decade. an ordinary team doesnt do that. having said that galway should beat mayo in 2010.

yew tree. mayo have been good the last few years but once you get out of connacht its not that hard to make the final. ye have been in so many finals because of great managment skills and excellent orgainisation skills. we see roscomman with these skills aswell. if galway had yere set up i think they would be much better. i can see mayo betting galway next year in the minor. even galway struggled to beat sligo last year. In 08 roscomman bet us. enough said!!!

Have you ever seen anything like it. For the amount of training those Jarlaths seniors do is surreal, lets face it, there team for this years Hogan Cup is nothing special. Granted they have one or two quality players but they are not the force of old. They will win the Connacht Championship because the standard of Connacht colleges football is miles behind the likes of Ulster. If the Jarlaths boys do go far in this years Hogan Cup then a schedule should be put in place so that the lads can train with both squads but if that dose not happen, its time for the lads to decide witch is more important for them. They may as well not turn up for training atall if there only going to come half the time, it makes no sense.

What ever happens for 2010, as long as you have 30 young men committed to wearing the maroon and white of Galway it will have its rewards.

Thomas Flynn will be the star of this team. Super quick, very natural footballer, and has grown to about 6 ft 5. Once he bulks up in a few years he will be a nailed on Galway senior.

As interested follower of football in the county I've on recommendation, that is for you all to concentrate on your school work and to learn the difference between to and too, there and their, along with many other spelling and grammatical mistakes. Take it from a guy who gave is life to football for Galway from 16 up until my mid 20's, there's more to life than football and the management will pick a squad, train that squad and that'll be their squad. This craic and talk of Jarlaths etc bares little difference on the outcome and if Galway are good enough they will do well in competition. End of. Post kind of deserves to back off for awhile and lets talk about the team when they're actually playing matches of note.
This has turned into a bit of a joke of a post, it'd be interesting to see whether everyone here'll actually go support Galway minors when they're playing, something I know first hand that they won't!
