Derry have to have the worst admistrators in Ireland. I am the manager of an under 16 team playing in an 8 team league. Teams play each other once which means 7 matches. In April we were sent out the fixtures and the league was due to end on June 4th. It is now 11th August and we still have one league game to play. We have not called off any matches and neither have any of our opponents. We have gone numerous weeks now without playing due to mixups and sheer incompetence from the person(s) in charge of fixtures. I can understand difficulties with fixtures when teams are trying to get games postponed but that hasn't been the case here. We played foreglen in round 1 of the league. When the fixtures came out for round 3 we were listed to play foreglen again. This was the first mistake and led to no match that week for us. In round 5 of the league we were listed to play Lissan but just as we were about to leave on the bus for the match we were informed that Lissan were playing Ardmore. Again, no match for us. We rang the person in charge and told them what teams we still had to play. They duly took note and produced the fixtures for the following week. We were listed to play, yes you have guessed, foreglen, the team we played in week 1. For the person in charge not to know what games have been played and seemingly incapable of running off an 8 team league is just pathetic. bscreen1973 (Derry) - Posts: 9 - 11/08/2009 09:40:12 387294 Link 0 |
Unbeliveable post! So rather than take this up through your club secretary and the proper channels you decide to vent your anger in a national GAA forum? Classy stuff, they'll be proud of you in Ballinascreen thats for sure, if you really are from there! Bald Eagle (None) - Posts: 1009 - 11/08/2009 10:37:10 387365 Link 0 |
Did yous ever try to read a big long post but half way through it your eyes start to move down and you dont know what the post is about even though you are half way through is but you dont want to go back up and read it because you still wont get it but Goodluck to you;) Orlaith (Derry) - Posts: 4282 - 11/08/2009 11:09:44 387417 Link 0 |
well bald eagle its not reallt an UNBELIEVABLE post if you understand what goes on with the adminisration of our games in this county. senior fotball would usually get preference and underage ad hurling at all age groups just threw together. i agree screen totally and cant wait for a change of leadership which should be happening soon as the current term is coming to an end. hopefully GAELIC GAMES and not just senior football will be promoted within the oakleaf. doire abu (no matter what code or age group) pig.ignorant (Derry) - Posts: 655 - 11/08/2009 21:55:24 388627 Link 0 |
pig.ignorant, i know quite a bit about the systems in the GAA and Derry GAA in particular and moaning on a GAA forum is not the place. Maybe you think that it is but i don't think it does a lot of good for Derry GAA to be yapping on here no matter what the situation is! well bald eagle it certainly wont change anything on here YAPPING on here i will give you that but the screen man had a valid point and has the right to air his views, sure if it gets people talking about any wrongs they see it cant be bad. we do live in a democratic society after all. maybe he has tried to go through the CORRECT chanels and got no where. pig.ignorant (Derry) - Posts: 655 - 13/08/2009 10:24:04 390345 Link 0 |

Tried a reply to you Bald Eagle, but looks like it didn't pass the administrators, and i don't know if this one will. The basic jist was that the existing County Board do not want fresh blood on board. kingpuck71 (Derry) - Posts: 691 - 18/08/2009 12:50:43 395510 Link 0 |
sure with the current "clique" involved in the county board, even if i where nominated i dont believe i would get anywhere as im not in it (the clique that is), and i know a thing or two about the county board too and could make attacks based on facts but i wont. but i will defend the screen man all the way. i would like to know did you actually read his post or did you just not like the title of the thread. either way i would guess maybe you have something to do with the current regime, hence your high horse attitude. he stated facts which have hampered him this year as an underage coach, to say the least. why does that bother you so much pig.ignorant (Derry) - Posts: 655 - 19/08/2009 10:23:23 396741 Link 0 |

im still playing kingpuk and would like to be for another couple of years but who knows maybe i will put my name forward for something then, but as i wouldnt be well known outside of my own club i dont think i will have much luck. no supporting BUDDIES as you quite rightly put it, within the county. pig.ignorant (Derry) - Posts: 655 - 19/08/2009 11:48:58 396840 Link 0 |
