John O Brien is he from Clifden ,if so he is a sound lad not bad at the gaelic, also not to forget Tommy Walsh from Renvyle and Keith Kelly from Ballinasloe.

Hillson - Yes, John O' Brien is from Clifden. He was a key player on that minor All Ireland winning team, had a terrific football brain on him. I've no doubt that if he was still playing regularly he would be good enough but has previously stated, he has been lost to Rugby. Huge loss to Clifden football but I guess they're used to this kind of thing happening to them back there at this stage, Rugby has been the No. 1 sport in the parish for twenty years or more at this stage, to think they played senior football before most if not all of the other West Connemara clubs, These days it's a constant battle against relegation to the junior ranks, a few loyal GAA men have kept the team afloat at intermediate level over the last few years but I reckon it's only a matter of time that relegation becomes a reality unless something drastic is done to promote GAA in the town...shameful situation really for the capital of Connemara.

Yes Clifden are another underachieving club for the size of there parish...talents being lost to rugby every year. Did ok in underage lately to U16 finals on the trot and a minor B final show some good signs for the club.

Anyway down to the Galway u21s...I can see the majority of the 2007 minor lads there or thereabouts the team with the likes of Danny cummins,David Hansberry from 2008 team and Duane, the three Sweeneys,Steede,O'Halloran and Monaghan from 2009 challenging for places

Clifden have always had great underage teams. reached 3 out of the last 4 minor b finals. the problem is that most of these good players are lost when they step up to intermediate because the whole intermediate set up is a disaster. clifden need an outsider to come in and take over. any one fancy it?! there is good potential in the club.

any ways is it true that alan mulholland is u21 manager this year

Mullholland is supposed to be U21 manager,KEEPER,a lad from Ballinasloe Nathan Javid, played with NUIG in this years championship, great shot stopper, great kick out, plays for Ballinasloe Junior A team also, that may not help him.

Wat bou the minor goalie this year?? M Breathnach of An Spideal he was the only player that performed against Mayo in minor championship wen Galway we wel bet!?

Eire89 I think Manus Breathnach is the best bet for the minor keeper. Owen Higgins from Corofin hasnt been a goalie since he last played minor for Galway in 2007 and 2008. The 07 sub keeper Ryder who wasnt on the 08 panel but couldve been has more chance than Higgins imo. Who was the sub keeper in 2008?
I can see Breathnach in goal.....

Very well said laser, intermediates are a disgrace. I'd love to see senior football in Clifden. Minor sub goalie of 07` was from Renvyle, unfirmilar with the name. Anyone to help me out?

Lorcan Conneely was the lad, good club goalie. Not sure what he's at now and if he's good enough.
