I think a lot of the stuff posted is spur of the moment and NOT really intended to offend but more to wind people up, that being human nature. In sport many of us take great pleasure at other teams displeasure and the Germans had a word for it, shaddenfraude. Dublin and their fans are in a low place at the minute and it's hard going for them. Venemous words like scum & hate should not be allowed at all and posters using them should be banned. However I also think that many Dubs and the media do themselves no favours. Away fans and teams receive a hell of a lot of abuse when playing Dublin in Croke Park and there is an undeserved arrogance within Dublin fans but that just might be a capital city thing, Londoners are the same. It's the expectation, overhype and boasts from Dubs that annoy a lot of people and when they have the inevitable fall others love to gloat and have a laugh. You just have to take it on the chin Liam because unfortunately that's sport and life. I am not into gloating at others failings because I seen at first hand the great disappointment of Dublin people; my own brother in law who's a Dub was nearly in tears watching it up here in Belfast and that from 100 miles away. However it could be worse Liam you could be a Nordie and have to suffer greater insults and comments. I now have a force field around me and don't let the comments of others get to me. Liam, Did you not a few weeks ago start a thread along the lines of "Monaghan, all that is wrong with Gaelic Football - Discuss" ? Now was that not started by you as a complete windup and whilst it was tongue in cheek, a lot of nasty stuff was said about Monaghan by all and sundry. We said our piece as best we could, took our defeat by Derry on the chin and got on with it. So really Liam. Whilst abusive messages are of course completely out of order (which we both agree on) you're a great man to stir things up yourself. If you can't take it you shouldn't give it. All but one team this year will have to suffer the pain of defeat. When we lost to Derry in Celtic Park in addition to the pain of defeat we had to listen to Brolly abusing us at every available opportunity. I didn't see you sticking up for us then. Just remember, when Dublin's day does come - as it surely will some day, memories of days like these will make it all the sweeter. Liam,I have to say I have lost a lot of respect for you as a poster.Firstly,it is not YOUR website to give us.Secondly,it seems you are fishing for compliments ie;Liam please stay, you're a great poster etc..I know it must be hard to take a defeat like that, and you obviously are a dedicated GAA man, hence your overreaction in my opinion but just get on with it.Everybody knows there are people on this that know absolutely nothing about football but alas, it is a forum and people cannot be stopped from becoming members. look lads ye are well able to dish it out so be ready and willing to take it when something like this happens and ignore the ones that go too far they are usually 12 year olds with a lot of growing up to do. By god i have taken some abuse over the years leaving crocker on the wrong side of a result from the Dubs and other counties as well SO WHAT it happens but from the real fans it is usually good natured stuff but you ALWAYSget some muppets from all sides no different on here an.mhi.me (Meath) - Posts: 107 - 05/08/2009 01:50:41 378313 Link 0 |

This whole thread is seriously pathetic. Was it RMDrive who noted that to get so offended on an anonymous website you must be a very insecure person? Suas Sios (None) - Posts: 1558 - 05/08/2009 09:52:22 378424 Link 0 |
What a lot of people don't realise is that this is about the fourth time in Hoganstand history that Liam has threatened to leave. I threatened to walk once myself but within about eight days, I was back posting. There is no doubt in my mind Liam will be back, its just a question of how soon? Liam Do you recall the thread you started I do not like Celtic fans from yhe 26 counties. What is the difference between saying this and saying I don't like people from Dublin/Mayo/Kerry etc. Dr.Shephard (Leitrim) - Posts: 2187 - 05/08/2009 10:32:16 378493 Link 0 |
