Junior league & championship - Your views please?

This year i believe both league and championship is wide open for 5-6 teams? Seans, Clones, Killeevan, Currin, Emyvale & Oram? Clones are looking in good shape this year with some impressive performances but will face a very tough challenge against a Killeevan side recovering from alot of injuries and missing players, this will be a very exciting game as the rivalry is one of the best in junior football. Also i can see Emyvale Seans & Currin advance to the next stages of the championship.

I don't tend to agree with you on the competitions being wide open. From what Ive seen I'll be between 3 teams Seans Emyvale and Clones.
Seans play Currin (who they have beaten well twice already) so dont think curring will come through this tie.
The Seans also have their team coming nicely together with the addition of Mc Guirk And Mc Nally along with the return of Emyln Clerkin they will be hard to beat.
Emyvale also seem pretty strong in league and having knocked the seans into the back door already you couldnt go by them.
It is important for Clones to keep Freeman fit and interested (when does the soccer league start again!!) if they are to be a threat.
I dont think any other teams are near strong enough to challenge

might be tough for the seans and currin to both get through the next round of the championship saying as they are both playin each other

Its a joke that either Currin or the Seans will be out and the O'Hanlons are still in with a bye into the next round. They should have to play in the preliminary round every year, and if they lose, then thats it. Its a nothing game; win well you learn nothing; stutter past them and its because you cant get motivated. Through in a broken leg or jaw and its a real party alright!!

As for the game, Currin to win. Seans showed their full hand in both league games and their only danger is up front. If, and its a big if, Currin can dominate the middle as they should, then the Seans frontline wont have the ball they need. Currin have alot to do, but i think they'll finally lift it and kick start their season.

Sorry didnt mean both seans & currin to go through just meant either have a great chance of progress as it will be a very hard fought match and evenly balanced. Killeevan have a chance to prove there lose against blackhill was a once off, this is there last chance so they have to step up and play the football they are capable of playing.

As a killeevan fan i am hoping the killeevan team i watched on wednesday last week shows up for the championship against clones, And its great to see Richard Burns back from america up in the full forward position, He played an amazing game scoring 3 points and setting up the majority of the killeevan scores. Its just what killeevan need at this stage of the season with vincent martin & ian larmer both missing with injuries. Killeevan face the seans on wednesday evening which will be a vital game heading into next week as far as confidence is concerned for the championship. Come on KILLEEVAN......

Regarding 'Anytime@ comment...seans have beat currin twice this season...and the 1st time was by a lot from wat i hear..also i heard dick nd others were missing for the second game but seans were also missing there two county minors, D mc mahon,c hughes and emlyn clerkin is returning from germany from what iv heard in the next few weeks which will be a boost..if you look at it from this view, ur last comment was unfair and regarding seans defence,i dont think u'l get many better defenders in junior football than e mc elvaney.. just something for you to think about

Come on the seans, I do believe we have as strong of chance as any to lift the junior championship this year as i think we are to strong for the junior division. But in saying that the likes of clones and emyvale are right up there this year aswell, From what ive been reading alot of people have been writing off killeevan chances this year but i would be wary of them? I went to watch the Killeevan versus Blackhill game on wednesday evening gone past, although blackhill aint the strongest of oppenents, they where simply no match for killeevan. One player also caught my eye that i had never seen play before, Was a young lad called richard burns who was up in full forward who showed amazing strength and skill. We will have to keep a good eye on him come wednesday when killeevan travel to play us in threemilehouse. I think we have enough in defence and attack to beat them. Once more COME ON THE SEANS..........

Jonathan Douglas midfield??? yeah maybe for clones town soccer? & even at that hed find it hard to get playing lol. Fair enough dick had a bad game at the weekend against deery but he will come good agaist killeevan this weekend. Killeevan may have richard burns back playing well & vincent martin and ian larmer both back from injury but we have great attacking options also with the like of the o callaghan bros and steven smyth. this is the game i look forward to most every year. Currin for the double....

Easy there cowboys, i didnt say it was a given, Currin really have to pull their socks up if they are to get the win, but i just think those two games will help them more than the Seans. Currin were poor both nights, whilst Seans were good, showing their hand in the process. Currin have massive room for improvement, whilst i dont think the Seans can play much better. They have no one to mark Dick within the rules (the ref will play a massive part here), and he'll be hurting after the Derry showing. A draw wouldnt be a bad bet maybe?

the seans beat currin by 7 with 14 men for 50 mins and dick was marked pretty well that night although your right , the championship will be a completely different game, seans have a lot of injuries at present also.

Farneysoldier, your as much a Seans supporter as Bertie Ahern is. If your are a true seans supporter, why would you be going to watch killeven v blackhill on the same night that the seans were playing currin. Tryin to make out that the seans are too good for this division?

Oram have played everyone in Junior this year at least once , except Toome, and in my opinion Emyvale are streets ahead of everybody else. They have a guy called Flannery in defence who's as good a man marker as anyboby in Junior or intermediate. They move the ball well and play a direct quick game , they seem to have good ball players all over the pitch. Big Benny is a hand full at either midfield or full forward. There a blonde guy playing corner forward and he scored 7 points from play against us. They have reasonable subs to call on. Gerry McCarville is a shrude operator he can call a switch and their fittness levels are good. Their disipline is very good as well . McCarville knows what it take to get out of Junior.
The only weakness i see in Emyvale is two of their corner backs , but i think where not regulars, ?
Where ourselves and the Seans have a lot of minors in our panels i don't think Emyvale have any .

Emyvale would be my favourites at this stage too, but you only need to be the better team for 60mins, sure look at Drumhowan, they threw away the Junior All Ireland last year and are storming through Intermediate this year. Currin beat them 3 times last year!! Its all about pulling it together on the day and making sure you dont have 'one of those days'. Everything else goes out the window.

Have to agree with some points. Its greatto se Richard back in the killeevan jersey and gives killeevan a different dimension. He was great against blackhill along with darren quigley and paul reilly at half back. Both players set up a lot of killeevn attacks and our Brian seems to have a settled enough half back line and full back line with gerard hughes playing well at corner back. The return of vinnie and ian will help towards championship time and i expect we will be thereabouts come the business end of things in the season

For the record. The Seans have barely used their two county minors to date. Padraig Mc Guirk and Danny mc Nally were brought on for the training game that Blackhill were good enough to provide last night!!
Dick has yet to meet Fintan Mc Kenna in the Seans midfield, He'll know he was in a game after thursday he'll be well shook within the rules believe me Mc Kenna is a rock of pure muscle.
Seans to come out ontop by 3 points.

I'm thinking confidence could be the Seans undoing; no matter what their players or supporters say, they just dont rate us/Junior, and think it should be a handy win. It was doing the rounds in the local that one of their backs kept mouthing along those lines during the last match in Scotshouse, and i know this really hasnt settled well with a few of the Currin players. Hopefully our lads tear into them on Thursday, as King Kev would say "I'd looooove it if we beeeeet em"!

Seans backs or forwards have nothing to slabber about - They are in Junior because they get 3 points in IFL last year and they know it. Every team belongs in the division they find themselves in.

I wouldn't be too worried about what you hear in the local. Seans will be very wary of Currin and Dick Clerkin in particular. Smaller men have went straight through their defence like a dose of salts this year and so they will not be over confident.
