Whoever the next Monaghan manager is, be it Banty or someone else, I hope everyone gets behind him. None of this calling for his head in the middle of the campaign. superfarney (Monaghan) - Posts: 260 - 28/07/2009 17:06:16 366612 Link 0 |

i am only after reading bantys comment bout "are there new players good enough to improve this team" in the article on the main page of the monaghan hoganstand and waas tinking that banty never gives new players the opportunities to improve the team. many of the subs are just there to make up the numbers in my opinion were as there are a few footballers in the monaghan club scene that should be brought on to the monaghan bench.. irishboy (Monaghan) - Posts: 4 - 29/07/2009 14:06:10 368282 Link 0 |

Same old story. Looking for a new manager or new players to continue playing the same old way. Monaghan's problem for the past 50 years has been the failure to develop a playing method that used the skills of some of the best footballers that Ulster has ever produced. The main problem is that the Monaghan method lacks intelligent pattern. The top teams play to outwit and outsmart the opposition by intelligent high speed ball control. This skill has to be acquired at an early age. Monaghan's recent performaces is evidence of where the problem lies. Firstly, the defence is seldom at home to prevent goals, secondly, the forward play runs into a traffic jam 40 yards out from which it is difficult to score. Most of the scoring attempts are from pressure positions. What is MIck O'Dwyers secret ? Maybe all those posts suggesting the names of new suitable managers can tell us! Highcatch had a point about same old story. It has been the same old story. Hopes raised and hopes dashed. What exactly do we want from our county teams ? Are we satisfied with seeing them break their backs and give their all for no reward for player and supporter alike ? Why are our minors and under 21 failing all the time ? Our minor and under 21 are never in Croke Park or for that matter anywhere else contesting semi finals. Is it the management, players or the whole set up ? Is it lack of tradition and regular success ? I agree with highcatch that its the same ol story. No real cohesive pattern to our game at any level. In my view we have good strong footballers and the very best of lads who seem confused with their positions and their team roles. Not all of the time but a lot of the time. Why is this ? I dont know the answer but surly the experts should either know or find out. Until we do then no point in pipe dreaming just put up with watching great players give everything and suffer defeat and ridicule like the Derry match aftermath. Surly our wholehearted players deserve better than that ! ahabog (Monaghan) - Posts: 9 - 04/08/2009 22:51:58 378056 Link 0 |
I think Banty will empty the tank for one more year! whitegoodman (Tyrone) - Posts: 439 - 06/08/2009 12:08:00 380772 Link 0 |

Totally agree with ya there is no playing method to the team nor has there ever been. Its all blood and guts and emptying the tank which we admire for the committment shown by the players but this team could do with some proper coaching they are too predictable and the return on the effort put in will always be a limited one. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1880 - 07/08/2009 14:28:58 382642 Link 0 |
