i think Damien Moen has proved himself as a good replacement what he has done with is club.
Bernie Muarry would be another choice but what i hear from past county minors he is to soft
Declan Loughman is another person who seems to be able to make tough calls
But i think Gerry Connolly is the man
Who ever it is it should be someone within the county from trainer to selecters to the managers.
As the county is full of good trainers and people with football brains

Some incredible nonsense on here ...

Paidi O'Se? Who needs their head examined? No way. O'Flatharta was the man who did all the work for Paidi only for Paidi to turn up to matches. He never 'worked for Monaghan for a year' as someone said and as for whatever help he gave Monaghan ... that was turning up for one or two sessions - nothing more.

As for Hugo Clerkin - no way. Can't have a father over a team. That's the reason Joe left Armagh.

McGrath won't take it as Meath approached him last year and he's happy with the U21's - who knows he could be in the main seat next.

You seem to know plenty about 'Martyy', Shaggy - but we need a change there too. Getting a team fit to run all day is not much good if you get pushed off it every time you go for it - like our defenders Saturday. We've just become a poorer and more negative version of Tyrone. We need new ideas and new plans.

Can't see guys like Stefan White or Morgan being a serious choice at all. White was only in Monaghan for a year or two and would be looking for the Louth job I'd imagine.

Gerry McCarville wouldn't be bad, probably the reason Banty got it in the first day and he'd need someone good with him. A real legend.

Bernie Murray would be good - and has plenty of club, University and minor experience. Probably the best Native candidate in terms of experience, but the loss to Armagh 2 weeks ago will not help selection.

Loughman and Damien Mone need time to prove themselves - but would be good coaches - should probably move up to U21 management first. As for Mousey - very good coach - but he's younger than half the panel and has no serious experience yet.

We need to realize the game has moved to an almost professional level and guys like Hugo, White, Nudie, Mickey etc wouldn't be up to the standard of modern inter-county management. It's become so professional and detailed we need really progressive people.

I disagree - There is no real proper home grown manager in-waiting - which says something in it's self ...

The two best names I've heard yet are Niall Conway and Gerry McEntee.
One other 2 I'd throw in t the mix is Paul Grimley if you could prise him away from Kildare next winter and make him the main man.
Or John McCluskey who was with Armagh - he's gone to Wasps rugby - but it's only for one year - he said he was keen to take on a job fully by himself now and he'd be a great guy to bring in after that.

Realistically though best manager options are Conway or McEntee.

Conway is more a coach than a manager - but Gerry McEntee would be a great coup. Do whatever it takes ...

He's super organized, ruthless, very well connected, very intelligent guy and would be a big enough name with enough youth on his side to manage the team with energy.

He'd also know a bit about midfield play - which we badly need.

Kieran mc geeney would be a great man to get. really think he could get that bit more out of the lads. but don't think he would leave kildare just yet

What about Paul McGrane? Would command a lot of respect and wouldn't take any rubbish. I've no idea if he has any management experience but I'm guessing he has the same amount as Geezer had when Kildare came calling. Would have major reservations about the rest.

If the Banty does decide to leave (he may not, as he now has a crack at playing the likes of Dublin, Kerry, Tyrone, Cork in division 1 next year), how about the likes of Eugene McGee as an outside chance..?
He is one of the best pudits in the game and brought Offaly from the duldrums in '77, '78 to the most famous of All-Ireland's in '82. Monaghan are currently where Offaly were in '80, i.e. coming from the bottom to be serious All-Ireland contenders, so he could be the man to push this team over the line for an Ulster title.. McGee, being a Longford man, had no real affiliation with Offaly either, so he has proved he can show the passion to a County that is not his own and earn the players respect..
anyway, must read the "Kings of September" again to check my facts.. Great Book.!

Gerry McEntee, as in the ex-meath midfielder and now surgeon? Didn't know he was into coaching.

Co Board really need to get this one right. They need to get moving on it, but there is no need to rush it either. Good point about the '85' players; the game has moved to another level commitment wise, and anyway, i couldn't see too many of them being interested.

None of the players should quit. As with Beckham and England, if your physically up to it, leave the choice up to the new manager.

As for the game, twas simple, we didn't get enough ball (catches or breaks) round the middle and they overwhelmed our fullback line with direct ball right into the 13/21. The Doherty switch worked well for them; when Dick went off he moved back into the middle and took over. We were always chasing the 2 first half goals and Conor's missed goal chance was the game defining moment.

Why the Bradleys couldn't be marked?

I think part of the answer to last Saturday is in this article ...

Very interesting article... now that's worth a read.

You must be joking!!! That would never work at all - that's all going in reverse. Moyna - look at scotstown last year or ask the players and Gerry wouldn't work with Banty again after the way he got rid of them after he helped him get the job the first time round - but Paddy Kerr might have some good input. I'd look to get a recent ex-player from a good successful team in as a selector to help us bridge the gap Peter the Great maybe? Even as a selector? Or Pascal? Paul McGrane? James McCartan? Someone with energy, forward thinking, ambition and drive.

Paddy Kerr would be a great choice to be involved. Very astute man and knows his football. Someone like him alongside an outside man like McGrane would be a great choice. We have not got many options within the county, trust me. And also, we should only pick people from Scotstown or Blayney IF THEY HAVE MANAGED THEIR NATIVE CLUB! These two clubs dont pick clowns to manage their own teams and only deal with top quality.

Lads any chance that you might take McEnanney away from us and let us get on with attempting to manage ourselves. Your more than welcome to have him back in blaney and as hes a monaghan man i'm sure he would do the job for the love of the county.

So please lads encourage your county board to replace one McEnanney with another and put us out of misery, its been going on way toooooooo long at this stage.

Wait for the man to leave first, as I have said already, whats the hurry in getting rid of the manager just for the sake of it it. Is there someone waiting in the wings to take us on that bit further, Im not so sure that there is.

Yes coleman was over cavan in 2005 but that was only for a few games in the league he had to give the reins over to mcelkennon due to illness. marty was in charge for their championship games.

I would think Damien Mone would be a good choice as Manager and may be Colm Donnelly from Blaney as trainer as he is ment to be very good coach and fitness trainer but may be a bit young. A selector from the north and south of the county to keep the balance right
