since its expected for banty to walk away. who would replace him, and can get the extra bit out of this group of players before there gone... In my opinion monaghan have to be appoint a manager with inter county experience as a manager which in my opinion needs an outside man, Apart from mick o'dowd nobody comes close to the mark as a genuine replacement. The monaghan county board are best drawing up a list of targets and going after them instead of looking for applications. The man i would try to get is sean boylan a few years out of the game might love a craic at ulster football. If not why not give mcelkennon the job on his own. Any insight into who you want as next monaghan manager shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1948 - 12/07/2009 17:49:01 342573 Link 0 |

Please dont start replacing Banty until he makes his mind up, but I do hope he makes his mind up sooner rather than later. If he decides to go, Boylan would be a great choice. Would also like to see Tommy Lyons, he has wonwith his club an All Ireland and titles with both Dublin and Offaly. kempes (Dublin) - Posts: 118 - 12/07/2009 20:51:03 342811 Link 0 |
Marty mc elhennon is not a manager and is better suited as a coach , dis was proved with Cavan. Joe kernan could be a option .. Lofty (Monaghan) - Posts: 727 - 12/07/2009 20:57:29 342822 Link 0 |

Bernie Murrays minor record not good enough to get senior job. kempes (Dublin) - Posts: 118 - 12/07/2009 22:00:20 342912 Link 0 |
don't write off Mcelkennon in the first year he was over cavan all be it only for the championship they beat antrim drew with tyrone in the ulster semi final ( went on to win the all ireland) beat donegal and meath in the qualifiers and then lost to mayo by three points. in 06 lost to down then lost to kildare not really easy teams ok they lost to waterford in the league to miss out on promotion. What have cavan done since nothing so it not marty's fault also no one could have monaghan fitter... shaggylegend (Monaghan) - Posts: 1948 - 12/07/2009 22:26:30 342940 Link 0 |
I'm not in the know, but assuming Banty leaves, a Monaghan manager works better for us. We had a great spirit under McCague in the 80s, and Banty has given the pride back into the jersey, for the past five years. Good to hear that there's people within the county, lining up to take this side into Division 1. MiseMuineachain (Monaghan) - Posts: 212 - 12/07/2009 23:10:30 343007 Link 0 |

Lads ye'll be doing well to get another man with a heart as big as Banty, wears his heart on the showlder, pity we've not one like him in Meath. bennyblanco (Meath) - Posts: 579 - 13/07/2009 10:16:39 343313 Link 0 |
Probably too soon for Loughman but at some stage in the future we'll see him back with Mousey by his side! Would certainly like to see the new manager retain the services of D Freeman and McArdle in come advisory capacity although I'm sure both players will be hoping they still have a role to play on the field.
