Does anybody have directions to find Shanahans in Clarina. I know how to get to Clarina but where in Clarina are Shanahans?

Also what part of Limerick are Dowlings in?

For Shanahan just turn down past the old Ballybrown pitch and he is on a bad bend no more that half a mile down the road.

Dowling is a brother of Brian Dowling of Star Hurleys in Kilkenny. he is not into it full time and only makes the odd one from makings he gets from Kilkenny.

i have a shanahans hurl and its a very good one not to light 'n' not too heavy, wrights in tournafulla are lovely ones.

Willie bulfin in Bruff makes lovely hurleys, 22 euro a pop unless you buy in bulk. It's interesting to go down to o'connors just for a look anyway, it's like a hurley factory down there. About the same price back in O'Connors in Newtown. John Torpey in Belvoir Sixmilebridge makes lovely hurleys, most of the Clare team use him. I've heard of a few more up the country as well. Apparently there's a lad making lovely hurleys in Laois, there's a sign on the dublin road for him, can't remember the name of his town. Course loads of nice hurls being made down in KK. That's all i know of. interesting thread.

Used to buy Hurleys from Daly in Pallaskenry years ago, bulk buy was variable. Very dry and easily broken. Now buy from Jim Burke in Upperchurch. All hand made to perfection. Several players from my home club( playing for county and province ) always request me to pick some up. No chance of a bulk order, but for individual requests he is yer man. Give him the details of what you want and he will make the finest hurleys in Ireland. A good guy and mighty craic also.

Shanhan must be the best hurleys in Limerick anyway. Genuine nice fellow, no hassle no fuss just good hurleys. Ed took over this established business that was run by a true gifted hurley maker in Noel Shanhan.
