what are u looking for beer baroon because if its hotel rooms you probably have no chance,

beer barron the key to any horse racing day is to pace yourself in relation to betting & drinking don't want to see u getting dehyrated after losing the shirt of ur back

Its a serious gig of a week alright.Indian Pace last year set me up nicely for the weekend.I finished the week up around 300 which is good.

A hostel is always a good option.Barnacles on Quay street is a goal mine, directly opposite the best pub in town-The Quays.I dont think it will be booked out.Sleepzone is another good option.

re beerbaron,As well ya probably know the Galway Races arent really synonymous with form, often ya will see a 20/1 winner, and a 6/4 favourite fail before the home bend.Five or ten each way bets are the safest way to go unless you are very confident of a winner or get a tip.And after that its Guinness down the hatch and serious craic I might see ya in the Guinness tent or Taafes on a Wedneday night for a céilí..

Ah yeah i know about form counting for very little,i can't remember ever winning much from the Galway races though i usually back from home so hopefully be a different story on track.

PThePieEater, the secret is that you never get 2 hang-overs in a row so you try and get the first one out of the way the first night and you can lash away after that.

Lockjaw,I take it you are a young enough man?Im a big fan of the Hole in the Wall myself,in there every weekend,2 euro a bottle of bud..cant go wrong there! Will be packed to the gills with 17 year olds that week though as its normally a young enough crowd anyway.

Other good pubs in Galway to visit on Race Week include:
-The Front Door
-The Living Room
-The Skeff

Ha, that's the great thing about 17 year olds, i keep getting older but they stay the same age.

Yes lads only around the corner now.Cant wait!im goin doin the 7 days as usual.
If its money your after Monday,Tuesday and Sunday are the days. The craic will start on wednesday and wont stop til Friday morning.
as for the pubs etc you wont go far wrong around eyre square, soe great pubs!

As for the horses, a few local trainers are starting to pick up form with val o brien and paul john gilligan having recent winners.
Weld is also going pretty well and so is David Marnane WhoI think will have a bag of winners. If I had to say one outsider for the plate i would have to say Keys pride who i think is primed for this race all year.
Best of luck to every one coming down and i hope ye will have a great week

Sure I used to work there young fella! I know all about it. I think you'll find Race Week in the Hole is a lot different than your average Saturday night. There will still be a young enough crowd but plenty of old stagers keen to show the young wans how to do it!
