you would know that its getting to the business end of things in the junior championship when lads are getting a bit tetchy on this tread !!. if this rain keeps up and the swine flu becomes a bigger issue the competition might not finish at all. hopefully it will be run off in timely fashion and have a team to represent galway in the connacht junior championship this year. fearnua (Galway) - Posts: 311 - 29/07/2009 12:10:53 368004 Link 0 |

in fairness tony, headford have been the form team all year, heading up the league unbeaten so its fair to say that they have been flagged from a long way out as outright championship favourites and nothing i have seen this year would suggest that they will be seriously treoubled in the north board anyway. the have annaghdown's second string in the semi 2mor week and should get thru' this one with a fair bit to spare. fearnua (Galway) - Posts: 311 - 07/08/2009 19:30:43 383207 Link 0 |

tony melia- who told you headford thought they could win everything? the u21's played the favourites tuam in the first round of the championship and the minors played the favourites claregalway in the first round of the championship so both teams knew they would more than likely be beaten and they were despite both putting up very creditable performances. so you are spouting absolute rubbish. you are obviously from a neighbouring club and dont like headford.you would want to get over yourself. manager5 (Galway) - Posts: 724 - 08/08/2009 15:56:04 383919 Link 0 |
North Board semi finals are fixed for Saturday in Clonberne,Annaghdown v Headford at 5.30 , followed by Ballinasloe v Glinsk at 7pm,what along way to bring Headford and Annaghdown, these two games are very tricky to predict to a neutral observer,PREDICITIONS PLEASE.Mayo are gone for another year HILLSON (Galway) - Posts: 229 - 10/08/2009 17:49:51 386572 Link 0 |

nice to see the junior semi's going ahead as scheduled and clonberne is a very fitting well appointed venue, in the 1st game at 5pm ithink, headford can show their true championship credentials by accounting for an annaghdown team that are powered by that great servant to football kevin keane at centerfield( annagh must have a very good senior team if kevin is left for juniors) but i think mchugh and the meenaghans will carry too much power for annagh on this occassion. fearnua (Galway) - Posts: 311 - 11/08/2009 16:06:50 388009 Link 0 |
great to see glinsk doing well again. its not easy keeping football going down there.ballinasloe will win though. manager5 (Galway) - Posts: 724 - 11/08/2009 18:23:23 388329 Link 0 |
Annaghdown to beat Headford by 4 to 5 points on Saturday. johnacula (Galway) - Posts: 2 - 12/08/2009 10:16:40 389080 Link 0 |
Headford Annaghdown will be a close one. Hard to know how it will go but it will be some battle. Kevin Keane has retired because of injury so will be loss around the middle. fitgir (Galway) - Posts: 17 - 12/08/2009 10:40:47 389117 Link 0 |
fitgir- which meeneghan? sean or niall? manager5 (Galway) - Posts: 724 - 12/08/2009 12:19:54 389253 Link 0 |
fitgir - I wouldn't be too confident about Headford winning. Everyone knows that once you mark the Meeneghans out of it Headford have no one else, so i'd be expecting Annaghdown to crowd out the defence and win by a couple of points. johnacula (Galway) - Posts: 2 - 12/08/2009 12:58:53 389342 Link 0 |
fitgir, i had watched the annaghdown/tuam game and marvelled at how kevin keane controlled the middle third of the field for annagh, it is very disappoining to hear from you that kevin has now retired due to injury but just confirms my view that headford are a cert for the north board title as i heard on the grapevine that both glinsk and grellans played junior opponents from roscommon in challenge games last weekend and both galway teams lost heavily so this would suggest that headford are the only logical winners in the north but may face serious opposition from spideal/ aaran islands in the county final. fearnua (Galway) - Posts: 311 - 13/08/2009 16:55:38 390955 Link 0 |
