NorthPole whilst Tyrone may not have had a stabilised midfield pairing, I think you are doing a disservice to Enda McGinley who won an Allstar last year in a midfield position. Surely that is an indicator of quality.

Clonoe exile allstars are not always an indicator as the all-Ireland winners usually get a rake of awards every year some worthy, some well.... not. He's a fine footballer but I'm talking about top midfielders and against Armagh it was highlighted how understrength Tyrone are in this area. They have great tactics that compensate. That's all I was saying.

Considering the number of players missing for Derry, are Tyrone fans really worried that they won't win this with a bit to spare?

314482 Do most of the Tyrone posters really think that their team will win handy enough, pulling up as it were?If you do it's a genuine enough opinion. You could be right!
You have to admire the work ethic to compensate for the lack of quality at midfield for Tyrone. In years gone by with that midfield pairing you wouldn't give them much chance. It just goes to show how much the game has changed.

I think you are mistaking the words quality and height in regard to the Tyrone midfield. Tyrone do not use tall rangy midfielders, Harte has always preferred all-round footballers with the emphasis on winning break ball and turning over possesion. McGinley and Hughes are both quality footballers who most other teams would use in more advanced positions but the set-up of the Tyrone team is somewhat different to most other teams in Ireland.
Anyone who has watched Tyrone play this year will know that we are not anywhere near our best and Derry will provide very stiff opposition. A point or two either way is the most likely outcome.

you'll all see come sunday.

Whats blatently obvious is how many tyrone supporters have only been around since 2003. If you had been around before that you owuld knwo what the tyrone Derry rivalry means.

Niamh - You said "rivalry has little to do with the level of performance it is to do with history, land borders etc"

Ridiculous statement - If it were the case why would Cork and Tipp not be as much rivals in Football as they are in Hurling - Same border -

One of the greatest rivalries was Dublin V Kerry - But back when they were competing on an equal level - No shared borders there !

Shared borders can spice it up a bit - but not to the level you suggest - Teams must be competing on same level for the rivalry to be real.

The question of whether Tyrone and Derry are will be answered on Sunday.

Niamh is blowing the trumpet for the rivalry as it's the only way people will take any notice of Derry.

A handy win for Tyrone, Derry to disappear, and Tyrone to march on to fry the bigger fish that they're after, namely back to back AI wins.

You were all screaming and cheering for Tyrone last year as soon as they started to make any progress.
Bandwagoning hypocrisy at its finest.

Good man Baldy. I assume you're a Derry man.
I could never see any-one in Westmeath shouting for our nearest and dearest neighbours in the East.
No offence to them. Its just rivalry.

I agree with my Clonoe friend, you are doing Enda McGinley a huge disservice - he has established himself as one of the top midfielders in the country. Not so sure about the All Star being an indicator of quality though - Kevin McCloy has one afterall...

i agree with you here in the sense that the tyrone midfield doenst pick itself anymore. kevin hughes is lackin in pace but is a fighter and will win ball, ryan mellon and collie holmes arent really up to intercounty standard although they can perform above par at times. enda mcginley is a class act and any time across the county would love to have him. in the first round of the championship armagh won midfield comfortabley but tyrone still won the match. i suppose your right the game has changed.

Doiregirlie - I'm a Derryman to the core. Sorry if i offend anyone but i wouldn't want Tyrone to win a raffle.
