Derry v Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I'm honestly not very excited about this game. Sure, I will watch it but I cant see any promise of being one to remeber. In my opinion its a way over hyped Derry team who always seem to flop come the summer months. Hopefully they will prove me wrong and the game will be great but, I cant see anything but a Tyrone win. An easy one at that!

I can see a tyrone win to myself. It should be a good match just a pitty about the venue

Did somebody suggest Seamus Bradley at corner forward for Derry?

Grow up.

Triple H :
if derry didnt beat the current Meath team by 7 or 8 points, I'd be seriously disappointed...lets hope they can meet in the qualifiers if we get beat by Tyrone on Sunday

I did want Derry to win. Im not so sure now after all the whinging over the Fergal Doherty-Dick Clerkin debacle.

I always felt that Tyrone would win this anyway. An even sharper Stephey O'Neill will break Derry hearts and Dooher as an impact sub will kill them in the last 20. Itll be close coming into the last 10 minutes but with the lack of Dohertys leadership, Derry will wilt & Tyrone, like the last quarter against Armagh, will go into fifth and brush aside the challenge. I just hope the lads keep that shlaps to themselves and play nice football. Both teams are capable, so just do it!

PS. James Kielt should see no action if Cassidy has any sense. If there's one lesson from Tommy Walsh this weekend, its that you shouldnt play a lad with the slightest hint of an injury. One big hit (to be expected in this encounter) and this lads year could be over an he well knows that so he'll back out of the heavy stuff and Derry cant afford one weak link if theyre to beat Tyrone! Best of luck to both teams!!

Well Niamh .... story girl?

Yeah I took a break there for a few months but now that Championship is back I really like the cut and thrust of this site. The off-months with the endless "Top 10 lists of all time" get a bit boring after a while.

So the vibes from Derry camp are good? ... that's nice to hear. It would be classic if you could knock Tyrone out of the Championship for a meeting with Kerry in the next round of the qualifiers. This has the makings of a very good game of football with two tough and powerful teams going full tilt. Game of the week for me and really looking forward to it. Best of luck to the Oak Leaf men.

this should be a cracker between 2 of the very best in the country, really should be the final when you think of the other side of the draw , this is the ulster final so the stakes are high.

I never mentioned anything about Meath? Yes Derry probably would beat them by 7 or more but that was not part of my message if you would so kindly go back and read. I said it is an over hyped Derry team and TYRONE should beat them. Which they will!

niamh you say all this stuff 'if you ask me' etc etc. . ballinderry are the top club in derry and to have our players leaving the panel would be disastrous for derry. kevin mcguckin probably one of the best defenders in ulster and ireland, niall mc cusker well everyone knows his undoubted talent, enda muldoon one of the most skillful and gifted footballers in ireland and that's no over exaggeration, his footballing brain is top class. now for you to come out with bravado with statements like 'yawn'. derry will go nowhere without the mighty shamrocks contingent end of story.

Ballinderryman, there will only be one Ballinderryman on the panel for Sunday so I don't think there will be a big a dent as you are led to believe. Also, I'm sure Niall Mc Cusker and the lads aren't too happy about their club making their decision for them and taking away their chance to play for their county. I hope it doesn't come down to it, but I think they are just empty threats.

Care to shade any light on the Conway incident while your here?

and you know why they are a top club Ballinderry man...

Yes you guessed it.... because they are actully from Tyrone!!! i'm just messing i'm not that arrogant!

Tyrone/Derry games are always tight physical affairs and I don't expect this one to be any different!

All this talk about Ballinderry pulling their players is seriously overstated. Should it happen it will leave one hole all be it a big one in the defence for Sunday. However I believe this team is growing up and learning not to focus on who is not playing and instead believing in those that are. Derry will win on Sunday . Should Ballinderry pull Mc Guckian out it will galvanise the rest of the team and many great players in ballinderry will not be too happy with their own club because it will be easier to pull their players out than to get them reinstated and that I am sure they are well aware of.

The 'Tyrone men' are starting to bite back ???????

Dont want to tempt fate but the way Derry are carrying on and the two counties in the other semi-final, Tyrone could end up in the quarter finals without learning anything about themselves!!!!
