Bit of a poisoned chalice this fixture. The winners will be lambs to the slaughter in the Ulster final.

If Ballinderry are pulling out of the Derry team (Yawn)as well as reported injuries then my team selection is to be as follows:

Gillis

O Kane
Mc Cloy
Lockhart

Cartin (If unfit then Mc Alary or Mc Kaigue)
B mc Goldrick
SL Mc Goldrick

Diver
Murphy

Lynch (Playing as 3rd Midfielder)
O Boyle
Lynn (Kielt to come on for last 20 is reports his Jaw is only a hairline fracture)

Eoin Bradley
Paddy Bradley
Seamus Bradley

We still have a good enough pool of talent despite having a lot of injuries and absentees

Derry need to get their house in order - and fast. If theres talk of a boycott by ballinderry thats never good. Even with this affair settled I would still expect Tyrone to come through this one by 4+ points.

Tyrone to hammer them... Sure Derry will be too busy fighting with themselves on the pitch: http://www.hoganstand.com/Derry/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=113182. Why is Cassidy surprised at what happened in that club game, sure isn't the "Off the ball" approach his main tactic this year. Derry must be the only team in the championship who have full-time barristers in the backroom team. I reckon Brolly will start using the excuse that Derry players were provoked into off the ball incidents because of shouts from the opposing supporters..! The whole thing is a Joke.!
Tyrone v Antrim Ulster Final and hopefully Antrim can spring the surprise of the year while Derry will disappear in the 2nd round of the qualifiers.

So much for analysis of the forthcoming game. You are all like a dog with a bone, get over it.

niamh at last it comes out. the derry county board have been trying for years to get the ballinderry men out of the derry panel, those lads would always be welcome back in their native tyrone. i see you have three bradleys now in the full forward line surely derry arent going for the bakers dozen, are they? that derry team couldnt beat each other never mind tyrone.

Some of the Jackeens are always rattling on about how they fund the GAA by their bumper crowds at HQ.

Well I reckon the GAA are licking their lips at the fines they'll collect from this match. It's got the potential to bankroll the fatcats until next year. One to watch from behind the sofa I reckon.

Tyrone by 3 points.

Would agree with you on the full back and half back line (maybe a toss up between McKaigue and Cartin). Id have murphy in half forward and lynch in midfield with mcguigan instead of o'boyle. Didnt hear that news about kielt. Coming on with time to go might be ideal for him.

This is getting beyond a joke, there are a lot of people with chips on their shoulders that would need to grow up. Derry and Tyrone are playing in an Ulster Semi final on Sunday and this thread was to talk about the game. Perhaps Derry will just answer the critics and do their talking on the field.

The venom being expressed on these boards from Monaghan fans and other members alike is nothing short of disgusting. Derry have been dragged through the mud, a Derry team who have no previous record of being a dirty team came up against a Monaghan team well known for playing on the edge. Derry beat you that day on the scoreboard where it mattered, better class of footballers and more skillful and that's the truth. I used to admire Monaghan and their underdog spirit, not now they fans have bitter and jealous and 3 weeks on are still fuelling the fires that Derry were the instigators of it, it takes two to tango and Monaghan are not as innocent as people are led to believe. Tyrone, Dublin, Kerry are 3 teams never far from controversy and have been involved in some of the worst rows on a GAA pitch in recent years, not much talk about it now, Paul Galvin 2 incidents worthy of a red card in a week, and what about the Ger Brennan incident. Al happy to be brushed under the carpet. Look what happened just 2 weeks ago: link I haven't seen one thread about it. Stop the witch hunt.

No excuses at all Joan, I'm just picking a team around our absentees. As for infighting, I can assure you that it has all been blown out of all proportion, there has been little said about it around Derry. Ballinderry are not bigger than Derry although they like to think they are, they have 'threatened' to pull their players empty threats if you ask me. I'm sure the players currently on the panel won't like having their fate decided for them now. Mc Guckin will be there on Sunday, mark my words.

Ok.. this is the last post I'll add to this particular thread on this matter. Apologies! Yes! I do have a chip on my shoulder over Monaghan v Derry, I was almost over it last week until what happened with Mullan's and Doherty's bans being reduced and the treament Monaghan has got from the GAA and the media (Joe Brolly on the RTE Des Cahill radio show last week) and the fact that they were represented by the very man, Brolly, who made a meal out of the whole match. In Fact, it was Tohil and Brolly who were the reason Freeman, Mullan and Doherty got bans in the first place. Both teams were guilty on the day but most Monaghan and Derry supporters would have been happy to leave it with the Ref and what he did on the day, even though Monaghan would have had more reason to feel aggrieved. I always supported teams that represented Ulster in the all-Ireland series but I do hope Derry make it no further then the 2nd round of the qualifiers! That's how bitter I still feel, and you can blame Derry men like Brolly, Tohill and Cassidy for that! along with the others in RTE. I think Cassidy is the only manager I've ever heard publicly criticising a player of an opposing team. Very low indeed!.
