i actually do think that raymond wilkinson would've made a difference. he is deceptively strong and can ship tackles from the biggest of men. conleith gilligan could've made a difference also with his free taking abilities. thanks niamh for pointing out ballinderrys' embarrassment of riches! ballinderryman (Derry) - Posts: 98 - 22/06/2009 17:26:42 319663 Link 0 |
I don't have anything against B'derry by the way B'Derry man. The punishments were a joke but I think Conway should just admit he did wrong and then cite Kilrea for the incident on Rocks which will keep them in the moral high ground. You no as much as myself Derry County Boards are a joke. Niamh (Derry) - Posts: 2397 - 22/06/2009 17:38:52 319682 Link 0 |
A lot of gracious posts from derrymen and women alike, just shows that Ulster is not about neanderthal football and tribal rivalries, we do appreciate the finer things too. Good luck in the qualifiers Derry and who knows, we may meet again later on, I do remember that happening once before! brendtheredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 10897 - 22/06/2009 18:13:55 319726 Link 0 |
i would say they'd both come back if they were asked. raymond wilkinson would make for an ideal impact sub he's a flash bang over the bar type of player. conleith gilligan is a confidence type player and if he has plenty of that on the inter county scene he'd be hard to stop. ballinderryman (Derry) - Posts: 98 - 22/06/2009 18:57:08 319780 Link 0 |
Tyrone.... arrogant..... - http://ulster.gaa.ie/landofthegiants/2009/06/21/arrogant-tyrone/ - well they raised it themselves... all this back-to-back talk... Crossman (Down) - Posts: 153 - 22/06/2009 18:57:29 319781 Link 0 |

Crossman, how can you criticise any current holders for saying there aim is to win consecutive All Irelands? If Tyrone set out this year with the aim of doing anything other than winning Sam again, there'd be something seriously wrong! What do you reckon the Down teams of 91 and 94 (and previous AI winning sides) were aiming to do? Come second? ClonoeExile (Tyrone) - Posts: 55 - 22/06/2009 19:16:36 319800 Link 0 |
It looks like Cassidy is trying to eradicate Tyrone men from his team and the only Ballinderry men who will play for Derry are the two who were used yesterday. McGuckin is a Tyrone man but fully committed to the Derry cause while McCusker is definitely a Derryman being about a couple of miles inside the county. For a county who says there is no rivalry between them and Derry their supporters on here come up with some of the deepest vitriol that would curdle your milk, that would suggest to me if there is no rivalry there is certainly some jealousy. Which must be because we are much nicer people I suppose. derryman (Derry) - Posts: 3246 - 23/06/2009 00:24:25 320209 Link 0 |

i agree with b/derry man, conleith gilligan in my opinion is one of the best half forwards derry has seen in a long while. he has a great brain and rarely makes a bad decision on the field. dont understand how any of the current crop is keeping him out. any thoughts on whether or not mark lynch should be moved into the half back line. seems to be where he could do most for derry. big strong lad moving forward into spave at pace??? pig.ignorant (Derry) - Posts: 655 - 24/06/2009 14:46:03 321826 Link 0 |
Joan please! don't mention the WAR or you'll have Niamh and Dell at it again. Was a bit like a game of tennis the other day . williewentwell (Tyrone) - Posts: 1712 - 24/06/2009 15:41:25 321889 Link 0 |
Gilligan is on a Sabbatical- a voluntary leave I think he wanted to concentrated on his family for a year. Wilkinson could be brought in to strengthen up that half forward line. Though DC's tactics were up the left on Sunday, can;t understand why Caliean O Boyle wasn't put in the half forward line at half time as he is brilliant at fielding the ball and scoring from distance. We were only 3 points down at that stage, could have made a difference. Oh well, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Niamh (Derry) - Posts: 2397 - 24/06/2009 18:10:11 322064 Link 0 |
