Are Kiltane finally going down?? Your views

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Seeing as there is so much talk about a depleted squad of players and over reliance on individuals such as shane lindsay, its only fair to start a thread and see whats up or down in kiltane?Mr.blue will enjoy this thread im sure but im just raising the question that have they gone to the well once too often..I just wonder. League form is nothing to go by so i wont bother going down that avenue but what happens when superstars such as lindsay and sweeney start to underperform, who do they turn to then. I believe they are carrying a few passengers and with them having the daunting task of playing two games away from their stomping ground. It will be interesting to see what unfolds this year as in past years there was never much rumours circulating about the possibility of them getting relegated. Whether it was that the standard in past years was a lot poorer or the fact that some key players have left for various reasons, there is a different feeling heading into this years campaign that they might not make a houdini escape.

That club takes huge pride in their senior status, that pride generates the kind of spirit that maintains their status year in year out.Yes, their not for the football purist, and this football mind boggles at Mikey Sweeney on a Mayo senior team, but no one can deny Kiltanes spirit and resilience.

good work, In the Parish!, you could talk a great game of football... why don't you go and try and talk your own club up to senior, maybe with a person like you on board that knows so much about everything you might win a few competitive games and not live for the easy cup games where you beat the senior club at the beginning of the year.. I think your neighbours just took pity and let you win these games, encourage the smaller clubs..

Kiltane in the past have shown some indifferent form, however i think that this year the can suprize everyone! They are in an easy group with ballintubber, moy davits and claremorris. They have particular strength at the back in the form of the determined Martin Coyle, skill up front in the form of Ultan Corrigan and mayo senior player Mikie Sweeney. I myself being from Claremorris, is very worried about facing a formidable side such as Kiltane.

Kiltane at 66/1?, Definately worth a bet!

i'm amazed that there are people wishing to see the likes of Kiltane to go down this year instead of applauding what they've managed to achieve year in yr out given the players at their disposal. the heart they show every year should be bottled and given to the county team and some big clubs and players around the county. Kiltane will survive, they've some key players back this year who've stood up when it mattered for them in the past.lindsay, barrett and sweeney are a full-forward line as good as any other club in the county. ya they've a few passengers on the team, more than other clubs but their will to survive will keep them up.

I'd like to echo what Jimbean has said, clubs like Kiltane are what the championship are about.!
In the Parish is just looking for a reaction, i'd guess he is a belmullet man that has never seen his own club play senior football..!!

I think it was the loss of Tony Og Lindsey and Enda Cos that was the downfall of Kiltane this year!!!! I can see Kiltane bouncing back next year though with these two boys back, they just bring so much to the team. True professionals!!!!

surely intheparish has better things to be doing than to belittle a senior club like Kiltane..he should be applauding an erris team staying senior unlike belmullet who have a far greater pick than kiltane and supposedly better quality players but who have flattered to decieve so often..jealousy is a terrible thing..also dont be suprised if kiltane cause a shock against moy davitts tomorrow

yes intheparish 66/1 as quoted by ladbrokes on this very page.......i honestly dont mind what happens to Kiltane as I have no affiliation with them but just to quote facts.....if kiltane beat claremorris then they should be safe and be in senior for another year, i believe that is their next game and at home.......

to pick a team to go down i would say another club who have held senior for a long time and have escaped in the past and that is garrymore

Breaffy lost to last years champions jibber, and ballintubber are one of the main contenders for this years crown although the scoreline was not forecasted. Moy Davitts are 100-1 to win it,big difference, obviously not to someone of your knowledge. Also note kiltane lost by 20 points against a depleted tubber side a year ago. This doesnt happen claremorris regularly whereas continuous bad results are coming kiltanes way.The only team that was worse than them last year was louisburgh but where are they now??
