Preliminary Round Kildare v Offaly - Verdict: Kildare Carlow v Louth - Verdict: Louth Longford v Wicklow - Verdict: Wicklow Quarter Final Kildare v Wexford - Verdict: Kildare Louth v Laois - Verdict: Louth Wicklow v Westmeath - Verdict: Westmeath Meath v Dublin - Verdict: Meath Semi Final Kildare v Louth - Verdict: Louth Meath v Westmeath - Verdict: Meath Final Meath v Louth - Verdict: Louth Louth will be holders of the Delaney Cup for the year 2009 imo. 1998 and 2002 will still be fresh in Louth minds, they could avenge the near misses against Meath in those years.

You a gas man Loyal. Based on your predictions I wouldn't be surprised if you actually work for one of the betting exchanges! Things seem to have gone askew early enough in your predictions. My predictions are below. At the end of the day its early to be making predictions all the way to the final as nothings constant in that teams find form, injuries, shocks etc.

Preliminary Round
Kildare v Offaly - Verdict: Kildare
Carlow v Louth - Verdict: Louth
Longford v Wicklow - Verdict: Longford

Quarter Final
Kildare v Wexford - Verdict: Kildare
Louth v Laois - Verdict: Laois
Longford v Westmeath - Verdict: Westmeath
Meath v Dublin - Verdict: Dublin

Semi Final
Kildare v Laois - Verdict: Kildare
Dublin v Westmeath - Verdict: Dublin

Final
Kildare v Dublin - Verdict: Dublin.

ColinWex you are being fairly optimistic there with our chances. If we can get anywhere near the final i'd be shocked, this year is definately one of a rebuilding stage for us!

My own take though:
Preliminary Round
Kildare v Offaly - Verdict: Kildare
Carlow v Louth - Verdict: Louth
Longford v Wicklow - Verdict: Wicklow

Quarter Final
Kildare v Wexford - Verdict: Kildare
Louth v Laois - Verdict: Laois
Wicklow v Westmeath - Verdict: Westmeath
Meath v Dublin - Verdict: Dublin

Semi Final
Kildare v Laois - Verdict: Kildare
Dublin v Westmeath - Verdict: Dublin

Final
Dublin v Kildare - Verdict: Dublin

Would like to see Kildare win it (outside Laois obviously) but in the last few years they tend to do fairly well in the league and then flatter to deceive in the championship.

a lot of kildare seem fans confident over nothing, league form irrelevant, just a nonsense to suggest a team that has not even been competitive in the last few years in leinster wil seriously challenge for the title. why are so many of our fans forgetting the terrible performances against meath and wicklow in the championship the last 2 years, why do league wins in narrow pitches over semi-fit teams in wet conditions lead to such confidence? In fairness a good few have learned not to trust league form but the optimism baffles me, yes we have improved and i am hopeful of a decent year because the county could really do with it. But our forwards have yet to prove they can kick scores from play in the heat of championship batte, we would need 1-15 to win a good game in croke park and i would not be confident we have the forwards to get it. Being out of croke park suits us as we are not fast enough, but guys like sweeney, ken donnely etc have all been easily marked and outplayed by guys from wicklow, laois and wexford in the past, Dublin to win leinster comfortably enough if they get over meath. Wexford and laois have zero to fear from kildare and i wouldn't dream of looking past offaly who are going for 3 in a row championshp wins over us if memory serves? kldare could lose by 3 points to offaly and it would be the same as previous years, no real surprise.

Can't see Kildare doing anything again this year. They simply are not good enough to even win Leinster. Fact.
