Ronaldo has scored 5 goals in 6 games back in Brazil. But Messi would nowadays be better than him.

Messi and Kaka are the top players now.

Just watched MOTD.

Like all premiership teams Chelsea defence is very poor. However when premiership teams play the like of Barcelona they have 11 men back. Difficult to break this down especially with the power and work rate of premiership teams.

I was delighted to see Anelka back on. This man has been the best striker in the premiership for years, wonderful player. Now Chelsea sacrifice him for Drogba's power, but Anelka is a better finisher, and possibly would have converted the Chelsea chance in the first game against Barca.

Anelka's class undoubted, but would Anelka have held off Marquez like Drogba did? I think you might well see the two start in tandem this Wednesday night though. Especially with Barcelonas defensive problems.
However i did watch el classico, what can i say? This last 6 months has produced some superb big games to revive peoples love of football.

Did anyone watch gillette soccer saturday on sky sports yesterday? Those bunch have to be the most insufferable i have ever come across. Every one of them said chelsea was great the other night. So being great is putting everyone behind the ball? chelsea are the only team left in the competition who were negative in their approach. Also during the show jeff stelling showed clips of daniel alves diving and called him a disgrace. Does he shut his eyes while the premiership is on and not witness all the diving that takes place.(drogba for example) I know one thing i will be watching the two semi final 2nd legs on rte because im sick of such bias on sky. On rte they will tell it how it is and not be biased.

Better than Packie Bonnar's bias for English teams, and Giles, brady, Dunphy, Whelan, Houghton, Beglin and the rest.

Dunphy played for Man United, as did Giles. Giles played on the "great" Leeds team, Brady played at the highest level, Italy.

And Souness has won everything.

Sometimes I don't know who the Sky people are.

And RTE are generally acknowledged in the industry for having the best panel.

32_4_1, ur responses are so one sided its not even funny. Whats the problem? Did ronaldo not sign ur autograph book or something? Get with the program. Ferguson has said ronaldo was undroppable, considering utd have probably one of the best squads ever assembled I think that is pretty impressive. Messi this and Messi that, but if there was no messi then im sure you'd find some1 else who is way better than ronaldo. Can they not both be exceptional players? Why does ronaldo have to be rubbish? Its obvious he isnt rubbish at all so why the chip on the shoulder about him? Do you think barca wouldnt bend over backwards to sign him if they had the chance? get real

i seen the game he was class, should of had 4 at least though. and as for the defending iv never seen worse but you can only beat whats infront of you, as for having a sub id bring on ronaldo. bigger stronger and more prolific but wouldnt complain if i had messi either. like i said before they're both brilliant my point is simply messi is more highly regarded by most because of his character. henry was brilliant the other nite too

no master. you see messi is the best player in the world. then you have a lot of great players behind him. then comes ronaldo. the british media hype him into something he's not. inzagi has scored 40 goals in a season before when serie a was the best league in the world but he didnt win the best player in the world award because his actual on field performances were mainly poor. just like ronaldo. but ronaldo plays in britain so gets all this extra hype and people get fooled by a few step overs and shiny boots into thinking he's something he's not. he always loses the ball aswell trying to go on runs and dives.

messi the real deal. scores for fun (dosnt take free kicks and peno's and isnt a striker and is already over 30 goals this season), never loses the ball, massive runs, has all the tricks aswell, can play as playmaker, never dives, can actually beat a man from a standing position that dosnt involve a step over, can raise his tempo on the big stage. pure class. and i ask you where was ronaldo at messis age. messi is the main man on the biggest team in the world and has been since he was 17

I said this a few months ago but worth repeating.

Please with hold judgement on Ronaldo until next year and we see how he gets on in Spain.

I suspect he might struggle, talented though he is. I also suspect the 75% of this board will forget all about him when he is playing for Real.

At the moment I would go for Messi, Kaka, or someone like that. At international level Ronaldo does not impress me, as he is too easily countered by good defenders.

he doesnt impress at international level? 22 goals 66 games, not a bad record! 100 goals in last 3 years for united in 152 games. goals win games

Patrique, there is no basis to what you are saying about international football and Ronaldo, yet you keep saying it?
