Great result for Greencastle at the weekend.
Another Intermediate semi, think this is as far as we`ve ever got before.
Started the game good enough but think Moortown held the upper hand for a long time.
We eventually got into a stride which was working for us.
The long ball into our full forward line was paying off.
Although a defender, Teague putting Warnock to the square paid off.
He led the line and Conway and young McCullagh easily beating their men.
Our midfield was a lot better and i thought when young McGarvey moved to wing half,
Moortown started to struggle, their half forwards were now in their own half.
We have a good bench at the minute and with R.Conway to come back to the panel soon too.
As the game moved into the business end, i feel we were in control and Moortown seemed to loose pace.
Bad injury to our keeper, shoulder, who made an outstanding save to keep us in the game.
If that had of went in it could have been a different story.
Tough going Moortown, a good team and hopefully yous can still get there through the playoffs.

Some interesting games this weekend to finish off the league- what are chances on the double of Urney winning and Strabane drawing! Highly likely

Fantastic second half performance by the Castle, Credit must go to our brave goalkeeper for keeping us in the game with a couple of fine saves. I wouldn't have been overly convinced about Warnock in full forward. Did well for the goal but looked a bit out of sorts, probably better as a defender or midfielder imo, He's a great prospect though. Looking forward now to the top two clash with Cookstown and the possibility of getting to our first ever intermediate final. We've been beaten in our last two championship semi-finals in Div 2 - Third time lucky I hope.

This weekends action
Strabane v Augher - Put your house on this one being a draw
Killyman v Greencastle - Greencastle to pick up points, a probable win by about 25pts
Cookstown v Derryaughen - Cookstown to win but derrylaughen should put up a good game
Moortown v killeshil - unaware of what the storey is with moortown are they looking promotion, if so they should win
Pomeroy v Gortin - Pomeroy i feel will sneak into the playoffs with a win against gortin
Eskra v Rock - Both teams need a win, both will be going all out, think eskra will continue good run
Stewartstown v Edendork, Stewartstown need to and should win here
Urney v Clan na gael, urney to win easily as clan have stopped for the year

We have been beaten in three semi-finals before,
I think there was one away back, think in the early seventies, maybe.
Could be wrong in this Mugsy.
Whats the chances of Derrylaughan nipping Cookstown?
Not good?

Strabane v Augher - Draw (some poor top tables if not agreed)
Killyman v Greencastle - Greencastle (should be too strong, minor final on the Saturday though)
Cookstown v Derryaughen - Cookstown (picking Cookstown just to jinx them. Lol)
Moortown v killeshil - Moortown (Killeshil in playoffs anyway)
Pomeroy v Gortin - Pomeroy (possible playoff push?)
Eskra v Rock - Draw (tough one to call, both need points)
Stewartstown v Edendork - Stewartstown (home advantage to swing it)
Urney v Clan na gael - Urney (no certainity, but if Urney play at all)

Moortown greencastle was interesting game at the weekend - thought that moortown should have been more ahead by half time but never took their chances and paid for it the second half with greencastle stepping it up a gear and probably could have left it easier if they had taken their chances. Agree Warnnock great potential but in ff i thought he was poor better in defence . Greencastle will need to really lift it to trouble cookstown but anything is possbile in championship

as for the league this week greencastle should beat killyman can derrylaughan beat cookstown thats the big question they have the potential 2 but they have nothing to play for but i would be surprised if they were not up for this game and i think they will do their best whether they will beat cookstown remains to be seen

relegation battle is very intersting can't see kileeshil beating moortown so think they will get into bottom 2 i would think most other teams will win hence leaving stewartstown still in the 3rd spot all to play for but think relegation playoff will end up stweartstown verus kileeshil two big teams to be down this low and one going to division 3

roll on sunday!

Another great game on sat between moortown an the castle,2 good teams,an well matched.......have 2 say that the moortown full forwards goal last week was brilliant, have to say,in watchin both games he is not a team player,a few times on sat if he had a passed the ball, moortown wud b playin cookstown,if he gets that out of his game he will b a good player, gdluck in the playoffs moortown.

big boy, i understand why you are saying our full forward isnt a team player, however, its my honest belief that our defeat was a result in him palming a ball off to another player, instead of catching it to score himself. this was him trying to be flashy as his confidence was up at the time. so i think that if he had have been greedy on that particular occasion that moortown would have won that game. when he lost the possession at that time, greencastle scored to go one up, whereas if we had have went one up things would have been different. anyway, take nothing away from greencastle, they are a good team. im happy in a way because i took a positive out of our defeat - we got a new keeper at last.all the best greencastle

Was at the two replays this weekend.

Friday
Was surprised to see Hub playing on this one and I wasn't surprised to hear about the unrest it caused in Errigal. Wasn't a great game to be honest, once Gortin found their feet, Kileeshil were left wanting. Your man marking the Hub was fantastic, a man of 37 years!

Saturday
A nervous game for me, I knew Greencastle would have it in them to win, but which Greencastle team would turn up? The one we've come accustomed to this year, or the one from the weekend before? Thankfully it was one from somewhere in the middle. Enough to get us over the line, but not enough that we would go in over confident against Cookstown... as if you could.

Collie kept us well in the game, with two fantastic saves.. particularly the first. God only knows how he got his hand to that! Marty Conway was on fire, knocking over 5 points and hitting the nets to be sure. If he keeps that up and builds on it, I can hope a little against Cookstown. Wee John McCullagh was a live wire, darting all over the place. Getting the ball and looking dangerous with us. A great player for us and a great one for the future. If and when we make it to Senior, John will be a big asset.

Moortown won the midfield battle, but thankfully we had a good defense that was able to cut off the Moortown scoring potential.

The Cookstown game will be a big ask, but I believe it's one we can answer. Will we win? Hard to know, but I'll definite say we won't be a walk over.

Quick question, some were saying Derrylaughlin have nothing to play for.... prehaps my maths are a little out, but...

If Cookstown win this weekend, Derrylaughlin win and Greencastle lose, won't Derrylaughlin leap frog us to 2nd place in the league and potentially take advantage of Cookstown doing the double?

Yes your maths is away off as it is impossible for cookstown and derrylaughan to both win when they playing against each other. Plus when Greencastle are 4 points clear of 3rd place how would a win benefit derrylaughan other than securing top spot in play-offs.

Doubt your maths are a bit out.
Cookstown 25pts
Greencastle 23pts
Derrylaughan 19pts
All have 14 games played.
Greencastle cannot be caught in second.
Plus Derrylaughan and Cookstown play each other in the last game.
I hear the reserve game is off on Sunday, any word?
