Casement, the right choice?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Tom Im not sure you have a clue. The money is specifically for the redevelopement of a ground. It is being given by the six county government for that reason. This is because the Long Kesh project was done away with and the six county government said it would allocate funds to the three associations for redevelopement projects. There is a need for a 40000 seater stadium in Ulster and thats why we are getting one.

P.S if you're an Armagh Fan I have to say there is more chance of Antrim playing in Croker this year than you lot.

Tom 1690,

A bit like your alter-ego you're showing your selective memory of Belfast again. The bar you visited is a pub locally known as 'the gravediggers', not a GAA CLUB, much the same can be said about the Whitefort or Biddy Duffy's or the Felons. All 4 pubs are quite near Casement, which isnt the centre of the universe by the way!! However, if any belfast gael wanted to watch a GAA match, they, for obvious reasons, would frequent their own GAA club or another in the locality and judging by the your alter-ego's comment earlier country folk enjoy a walk and wouldnt mind walking to ardoyne passing countless GAA CLUBS on the way.

Anyway, how or why im even engaging in a discussion with a genius with an IQ similar to the alter ego is beyond me. I must laugh at the name though, it does display your impeccable republican credentials but then again you're a landlord, bring back the Defenders(google it super duper fear gaelach!!)

I think that tells us where Tom is coming from. Fortunately we do not have jungles in Ireland.

242223 As Belfast is the home of GAA in Ulster, I mean no other county comes within range of Antrim in Ulster titles won, and no county has won as many senior all Ireland titles, it would be fitting that the home of Ulster GAA was in Belfast.

-------------

change the record would ye.

Alas Joan, not for some time. If Cavan, our closest rivals, win 3 Ulster titles a year for the next 50 years and Antrim win none, they will overtake us.

So I am afraid that the record looks like being on for some time.

Could someone please let me know were I stated that the gravediggers was a GAA club!!! post the sentence. The pub in question had St Galls flags flying from it but would not show the game. I again ask the question, why should GAA people give their hard earned euro to either anti-GAA establishments or drinking dens masquerading as GAA clubs in belfast? PS I wouldn't rent a house to a native of Belfast as I only rent to employed people.

Tom1916 - in one of your rants you talked about GAA clubs sandwiched inbetween a story about the gravediggers implying it was the pub you were referring to - at least that is what readers would have to infer from the nonsense you are coming out with since you don't really let logic get in the way of your daft opinions.

How is Belfast the home of GAA in Ulster when Cavan were the first county in the province to organise?

Clones is the home of Ulster football and Casement the home of Ulster hurling. Clones hosts the football finals and Casement the hurling finals. There is no need to spend money on anymore County Stadia in this province, there are plenty of fine grounds underused as it is!

No, still no one can tell me where exactly I said it. A copy of the post would be sufficient.

Tom Not only are you ignorant in both opinion and writings but now you are being completely insulting and antagonistic to Belfast people. For your record I have worked from the age of 17, over 20 years. My father, mother, brother, sisters, uncles, cousins, grandfathers ALL worked and never spent a day on the dole in their lives. They were ALL Belfast people. If you are so anti-Belfast why don't you offload your Belfast property portfolio and give the money to a 'Vote For Clones' campaign. That would be line with your beliefs would it not? For your information the Catholic community in Belfast largely came from impoverished rural Ireland in the mid and late 1800's during the Industrial Revolution and post famine era AND mostly from the border counties and the West of Ireland. They came through necessity, work and hunger and had no choice in the matter. Many came as mill & factory workers, servants and household staf for the Unionist and English gentry. My own grandmother's people came from Galway in this period so Belfast citizens were not projected into Ulster from Mars as some would have you believe. The GAA community here is strong, it's thriving and it's increasingly confident AND we are NOT going away so get used it & Casement will be the primary GAA venue in Ulster. It's coming sunshine whether you like it or not and you can abuse and scream and shout all you want.

hughoreilly they know nothing about the GAA, Clones is the home for Ulster gaels. A new stadium in Belfast will just be something to vandalise and scribble anti republican graffiti on.

By the way Tom - check your post: 08/04/2009 09:39:16 - you stick the reference to the gravediggers in the middle of your rant about GAA clubs in Belfast.

Tom1916 County: Armagh Posts: 398 I am astounded that a supposed GAA supporter, can be so vitriolic and insulting to your fellow GAA supporters. I have not seen such Generalised Bigotry in the written word since late last century and it was not normally written by GAA members or supporters.

Who else would have a name with 1916 on a GAA web site. Is this a vain attempt to establish credibility? Apart from the obvious statistics about workers in Belfast compared to the rest of the province, hence the need for public service jobs west of the Bann, the man hasn't a clue. I believe he is from around Cross, so obviously feels secure as a champion of Irish freedom in that locality. So I doubt if his posts should concern us unduly.

Tom I feel that there is no insult or generalisation that you are incapable of saying. You express what is most base in sports supporters dialogue. And there always seems to be one of your mates sitting behind me at a game, and yes sometimes they are from Derry.
