Only thing ive heard is from what Fourmasters have put on their website - Not sure why Ryan stepped down as captain as I think he certainly done the job for them, both on and off the field.

Your right Gael2200. Its not long ago all our boys were Junior players. We're now Senior League Champions. I think you can call it progress.

from provincial councils web site

- Each County should publish and implement an annual fixtures programme which provides (a target number of???) games for players of all ages; genders; and gaelic codes: cross-County boundary fixtures should be used where feasible
- Host an biennial "Coaching the GAA in Britain" seminar, rotated around Britain, to keep up to date with leading-edge GAA coaching; share good practice within Britain; and identify new priorities for action
- Encourage Britain-based coaches to attend the GAA's annual Coaching Conference
Recruit Third level College students to coach in Clubs (and prepare/support them via in-College coach training programmes)
- Organise games between Clubs and Third Level Colleges
- Introduce new competitions at U16 and U18 levels
- Appoint, on three-year contracts, seven County-based Development Officers who will cover the full GAA spectrum from administration to coaching
- Develop and deliver, possibly based on successful models developed in North America, week-end/blitz-type competitions for players at all levels
- Each County should put in place at least one underage Development Squad
- Every British Club should set the target of having a team in the 2012 Feile
- The British GAA Council, supported by the GAA overall, should take the lead on obtaining recognition of gaelic games from the Youth Sports Trust and the National Schools Sports Association
- Each County should aim to be self sufficient in the delivery of GAA coaching awards
- Every British Club should set the target of having a team participating in each available level of hurling by 2012

John Mitchel's hurlers were defeated by Kilkenny champions in Kilkenny yesterday. Mitchel's held their own in possesion stakes in the first half but were unable to put
scores away and payed for this later in the game.
In the second half the home team completely dominated and went on to win by a big score.
Well done to Mitchel's on performances throughout the year.

Mitchels were comprehensively beaten by a very average junior hurling side from ireland, they really have to go back to the drawing board and look at the structure of junior hurling level in the UK and is there really any point in it. There just isnt any interest in junior hurling, anybody with a bit of hurling in them in london plays at least at intermediate level leaving the guys who only play for a bit of craic for the junior level. Mitchels/Warickshire hurlers would have to look at there training and i've seen some of the guys and to be honest i doubt if they could complete 2 full laps of a gaelic field, but because they have no competion they think the are on a different level.

But its a shame to bring a team from britian and play against a team who are supposed to be at the same level in Ireland and and get completely white washed.

Hopefully this will not deter the boys from giving it a proper go this year.

I don't think anyone who was at this game would describe this Kilkenny side as an average junior team.
They won their final easily and this year will play in the Kilkenny intermediate grade where believe it or not intermediate teams from this county would beat senior teams from 28 of the 32 counties.

I have to agree with you on the opposition to Mitchels here. There is none.
They play Fullen Gaels who were the only team to give them a run this year. EGB who they beat by about thirty points, who by the way consider themselves at the same level and Casements who are struggling.
Finish off with a final against London team, winning by a point. About four games in a whole year.

That's no preparation to compete with teams from Ireland, who play week in week out in very competitive structured games.
The whole structure of hurling needs to be re thought
To make it in hurling you need a game every two weeks to develop a squad capable of competing. This is not possible here with the current set up, as we don't have teams.
Therefore both Warwickshire and Mitchels will continue to struggle playing teams from home.

On your point of fitness level, it is the end of January and these players have not had a break in three years, what are you looking for.
This group of players train consistently all year, they need encouragement not criticism.
As far as I know even county football teams in the UK struggle against the weaker counties from home and ended up on the wrong side of some big score games

Havent had a break from what in 3 years?

If they'd been playing and training for 3 years and end up getting beat by 30 odd points some serious qestions about their training need to be addressed.

Maybe training does need to be looked at by all clubs, as your own club won just 4 games out of a possible 38!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
need we say more

When do you think the county board will make a decision on structures and fixtures?

I heard some rumors MACs were thinking about approaching Pat Hoey to manage there seniors for the coming season!

The 20th or 22nd of Feb I heard but don't know if this is true.
I doubt if Pat Hoey is going to Mac's, as he is the county hurling manager and would not be able to fit both in.

Yes I heard they would be making decisions about fixture lists sometime in feb, can anyone confirm if any teams have been promoted or relegated, will there be 3 leagues again? Can i just state as a Macs man we would never have the above mentioned anywhere near our great club, people in warickshire who know macs people know that we only have our own or if we were to look outside it would have to be; 1. someone who is first and foremost trustworthy 2. someone who is reliable 3. someone who is knows their football inside out, selection, tactics, training, player relations 4. someone has no time for big time charlies (EGB) 5. In a nut shell Eddie Hanlon and I hope the rest of the club vote for this on sunday.

Pat Hoey is just about mentioned with every club so far, mainly in jest to be fair but see from RC notes he is their manager again this year. To be fair to him he is the only manager to have won the W'Shire Champ outside of Macs for the last decade so he must be doing something right? Don't know their manager from last year but they didnt have a great year, FM will miss Ryan and Cuffe, Mitchells again will struggle as the commitment doesn't seem to be there, EGB are a mixed bag and you never know what team is going to turn up....can't see past Macs again. Players may have aged but with the age they have become more cute with possession and positioning. The promoted teams I wish all the best but may need a year to settle.

Silentone,

What teams have been promoted?

Have the leagues restructured to reflect this?

Hman,

Can you confirm Ryan and Cuffe wont be available this season?

No confirmation but I would think the County Board can't avoid increasing the Senior league - It would be detrimental not to.

I was talking to a FM player on a site on Friday and Cuffe apparently is going back to Donegal and Ryan is heading to America, thats why he stepped down as selector and captain. Think the info is credible.
