baldeagle, who is this other club that has applyed for permission to play in warwickshires league ??
Not a bad idea really, some new opposition might liven up what is now a poor league.
Any views from other clubs in the county ????

bothered, agree with you about games being played on thursdays & saturday evenings. It happened a few years back & worked well, then all of a sudden stopped for no apparent reason. If this had been the case this year you wouldnt be looking at have to be playing games in november & december.
Fr.Forde cup could be played out in the month of May or June as it only involves senior clubs. These clubs would be playing competive games in the run up to the c`ship. And forget about this nonsense that it is a winter competion.

Moonshine, it did work well!! this winter scenario is a losd of ***** it is an excuse to let games roll on until december! is Fr Taffe/ Mulligan cup winter comps??

As i have already posted, I would like to see the league completed before champ starts and then have cup competions afterwards. The cups can be sorted fairly quickly and this should not run on until dec with comps still not finished.

Hman, i hate the "my tallywacker is bigger than yours" stuff that goes on here, you are trying to say macs were scared to play you in cov, why? they are the best team out there at the moment ........love em or hate them!! i admire your club for the way they are progressing and hope that others can follow suit, but it looks a bit silly on here to suggest they were not willing to play. There was another game called off on sun and we dont see either of them clubs bickering on here

It probably is starting to look a bit childish bothered, but thats not my intention. I came on here in my first post to say how disappointing and frustrating it was that the game was called off. Our boys have trained hard for the last four weeks with the final in mind, and all for nothing. We did offer to play in Coventry but Macs had been already told the game was off. I made the point that with a bit of forsight it should not have come to that anyway. At no stage in any of my posts will you have ever seen me say we're better than MACs bla, bla, bla So i cant see where you get the 'My tallywhackers bigger than yours' impression about me. As regards the other game, again with abit of forsight, the game might have been moved to Erdington. However the teams involved probably saw the postponement as welcome relief. Mitchells have played more in the last 6 weeks than they had all summer and EGB lads probably just want the season to end to start a fresh next year. And as stated on here previously they probably have no interest in playing for a mickey mouse cup at this time of year. P.s that last statement is not my view.

Fair enough Hman! i take your point about forsight for venue/s but lets hope we can get a fixture list that will take us away for matches (FINALS!!!) being played in dec.

All,

No one standing for a position at the weekend ???? no motions going forward either by the look of it !!

It was a team from Bristol that applied, can't remember their name now off the top of the head. They were granted permission by the Prov Council to apply but weather Warks let them or not is another story.

Just heard the motions for convention, they were only received yesterday by clubs.
No club will have had a chance to put them to members, this simply is not good enough.
So remember when you vote for a secretary tomorrow, what you are voting for.
None relate to championship or league, about twenty in all, of which I would venture to say twelve will be ruled out of order.
There will be very little change if any looking at the nominations. No new names being put forward for management.
I ask the question. Are clubs happy with what we had this year? It would appear they are.
There are a number of groupings for the fixtures, with the only new name being Mark McLoughlin of Mitchels.
Warwickshire certainly needs fixtures sorted before another year starts.

I'm not a delegate so would have no reason to attend. I was taking advantage of a free Sunday and doing a bit of Christmas shopping!! Sounds like the meeting was a waste of time anyway. No restructuring of the leagues or changes at the top table.

The main change that has taken place is that the secretrary has taken on the position of fixtures as well.
In fairness to him he only took it on on the basis of when he makes a fixture there will be no changes, he will not accept phone calls regarding same.
Clubs to name first 12 instead of first 15.
Pat Hoey Manager of Hurling and Sean Quigley Football.
St Brendans promoted to Senior.
I think from discussions that there will be a restructuring of leagues in Janurary as every club voiced their concerns.
The only point I would ask is that as he makes a fixture, to do so on the same considerations as if his own club was playing.
There is no reason why a fixture book cannot be brought out for running championship and leagues, and if there is a problem with a fixture, then allow the clubs concerned to play the game within seven days, either way no extentions, a result, or team calling off game concede the points points. If both teams are unable to agree to play then both lose one point in leagues.

Didnt hear anything about Brendans being promoted just yet ?Do they go up to senior even if the objection over the county final is ruled out ?or do they have the option of staying at intermediate

objection was ruled out and Brendans are being promoted to Senior. (it was brought up at convention._
They should have no problems competing in senior, they drew first day with mitchels in the final and could have won it on the day.
I think they were missing a couple of players for the replay.
It would be a shame if barnabus don't go to senior as well , they won more games than any other team in warks. this year, and both they and
the senior championship would be much better.

they didn't actually announce whether the objection had been overruled. Hence the decision to delay presenting the championship medals and to decide who would be promoted. it was mentioned but nothing was decided. Regrading of teams will be discussed at the first meeting in Jan.

My hearing must be deceiving me.
What I heard the chairman say was the intermediate medals were not being presented because St Brendans may appeal decision.
When the question was asked about team being promoted it was reiterated that St Brendans were being promoted, and everything else was left over to janurary meeting.

It seems somewhat ironic that for years Warwickshire has struggled to have enough teams to compete with each other at Senior level and now there are mutterings of discontent at the possibility of two clubs seeking promotion to Senior. I wasn't at the meeting in Pnh as I am currently out of the game but retain a keen interest. From what I heard, on the issue of teams being promoted to Senior there were one or two people commenting that they would prefer to see St. Brendan's promoted on their own and not St. Barnabas. I find this absolutely staggering.

There is more to the gaelic season than one or two games in the Championship. In Warwickshire in particular it has become a long slog, starting around March time and limping into November with numerous cups and leagues to play for. St. Brendan's whilst attracting my respect for their reasonable year, along with St. Barnabas, did not win the Intermediate Championship. Neither did they stand out in the league, in fact they were distinctly average and according to the Barnabas website received a couple of hammerings from the Nottingham club. In order to improve as a county, we need our best players playing in the Senior league and creating a competitive environment. If St. Brendan's are promoted at the expense of a better placed club, or indeed against their own will this will not help Warwickshire football as a whole in any way.

There needs to be a restructuring that ensures that clubs are placed on a level playing field and against opposing sides who will ensure a competitive game; any thoughts of denying this to promote self interest (i.e. reducing competition for one's own club in a specific league) will be detrimental to the long term prospects of the county and will contribute to the continuing falling standards in the county.

intheno i could not agree more with you. unfortunately some people in the county see st.barnabus as a threat, pretty disappointing but there you go its up to the co board to stick their neck out on this one and make a decision, personally i would like to see barnabus go up as they would add so much to the senior and county set-up. but as i say up to co board
