Isn't it great to have another team competing and winning things? There would be no point playing any sport if it wasn't competitive. I've played for a club that has been regarded as weak for the last few years, similar to where Four Masters where 3 years ago and its fantastic to see what hard work and effort can result in. They should be congratulated for putting the hours into it and getting their deserved rewards. That being said, Macs are still the team to beat. james_ohara (UK) - Posts: 33 - 04/11/2009 22:07:06 475486 Link 0 |

Macsforfive. If you were correctly punished for your tackles you would have only had twelve pllayers by the end. Hman (Donegal) - Posts: 111 - 05/11/2009 08:50:34 475724 Link 0 |

cant believe masters still think they should have won the final.cant ee them ever winning one.they arent good enough at the moment and have no under age coming through that are as good as casements, egb, brendans or macs. theneutral (UK) - Posts: 164 - 05/11/2009 10:54:31 475822 Link 0 |
Fair play to Masters, their league win was totally deserved. However, I dont think they are strong enough to win a championship. In truth they were well short in terms of quality against a poor Macs side who looked to have that extra gear if required. I expect a renewed challenge to Macs superiority from EGB. Casements and Mitchels next year, especially if they can make additions to their panels with new players and young lads coming through. Fair play to Macs for their continued success it is well deserved. When I say poor, I mean poor by the standards of Macs teams throughout the years. As for the Championship debacle, i would say your juniors would have beat us that evening as you were playing a joke of an EGB team. I for one look forward to meeting you next year on a more level playing field. Che1959 (Galway) - Posts: 56 - 05/11/2009 16:18:16 476199 Link 0 |

I never said we were missing players, we were a joke because we hadn't trained all year. Hopefully, we can sort ourselves out for next year and challenge Macs once again. With a few new faces on the panel we should be there or thereabouts come Championship next year Che1959 (Galway) - Posts: 56 - 05/11/2009 16:54:43 476259 Link 0 |
che1959, surely with the so called quality players in your squad that we hear so much about, harrigan, dougie, boxwell, bradley, fleming, the foleys and the so called best keeper in the county, you would have put up a better show in the biggest game your club had all year. Surely there would be a bit of fight and comradeship amongst these lads who have played together for so long to go out and at least have ago against their biggest rivals. Things cant have been that bad in the club !!! Anyway hopefully you all get it sorted out so there can be no silly excuses the next time Macs beat you. moonshine (UK) - Posts: 297 - 06/11/2009 23:20:58 477811 Link 0 |
Moonshine, surely the rest of the county know by now that EGB have been in trouble for the last 2 years! Players fail to turn up to training for various reasons that we don't need to go into right now, and if they turn up for matches they will only be 2nd best to teams that consistently perform, like macs and this year, four masters! These problems will hopefully be addressed properly and on the way to recovery by early next year. If they are, there is no doubt in my mind that we will once again be challenging for top honours in the next 2 years! There won't be a quick fix, but a plan for a the future! ciarraileaid (Kerry) - Posts: 3 - 15/11/2009 13:15:26 484137 Link 0 |

If they do have a full team, that will be some real craic, and i'd fancy them to clean you again. Hman (Donegal) - Posts: 111 - 16/11/2009 11:07:52 484808 Link 0 |

We'll be there on Sunday, with our strongest possible squad, whether we will be good enough to win is entirely another matter. Im not exactly sure what Macsforfive means by the term AGM??? Could he please elaborate?? Che1959 (Galway) - Posts: 56 - 16/11/2009 16:05:51 485177 Link 0 |

Mitchels by six, Brendans played well but lacked fitness and Mitchels pulled away towards the end. Mick83 (Wicklow) - Posts: 67 - 16/11/2009 16:18:34 485196 Link 0 |
