It's lucrative for smaller clubs in the FA Cup to play larger teams like United, Liverpool etc!! Stop comparing GAA to Soccer, they are totally different. Get real these teams are a level below Masters who themselves would struggle against Macs, EGB at full strength. I for one can remember Casements hammering Naomh Padraig in a semi final a few years back, when NP were argurable stronger than they are now. These weaker teams can't even win the intermediate championships as things stand!

The only reason mitchels won the intermediate was because that team was better than there 1st 15 therefore brendans done well giving them a game in the final and the replay.

As far as i know the Replay for the Intermediate Final is now the 15th November........Mitchells havent won it yet!

You will know as well as I do teams that have folded in the last 20 years. Failure to achieve some level of success, it being winning a few games or winning a championship/cup/league is often at the core. Different clubs will have different expectations bur generally want to be able to compete at some realistic level. For example Four Masters & St Barnabas kept things going through lean years and are now achieving levels of success they deserve for their endeavours, but as many and more have disappeared from the scene.

Great to see St Chads back as an adult club and the Leicester clubs being pragmatic and burying what was a serious rivalry to amalgamate, but what about Connollys, St Josephs, Laune Rangers, Kingdom, Clan na Gael who had abult teams in the 1990`s and other un-named clubs that are long since folded, let alone hurling teams, underage sections no longer operating and junior/second string teams that are gone?

If you want the current intermediate clubs to agree to a restructure that may result in them becoming also rans in a format designed to allow your club to win more games at senior level, you are not going about it very well. Where is their incentive to agree to what you want?

You need to consider what is good for all clubs, not just your own!

Its a fact of life and when a team gets serious hammerings week after week, season after season it fails to attract new players and the players it has get demoralised. Its good players often end up leaving for other stronger clubs.

Maybe your attitude is why various intermediate clubs objected to taking up places in the senior grade in recent years. A few years ago a now very strong senior club (that has won the senior championship recently) sought and obtained regrading to intermediate even though it was not the weakest senior team, on the basis that a new club starting up was taking some of its players. It then won every game it played and cup available in its new grade.

Self interest is killing things for everyone.

While every team cannot win every competition, a closed shop where the prizes are shared out between a small number of clubs is no good for the GAA in Warwickshire. We need to get more involvement, not less. New teams & new clubs are required, but the Warwickshire Schools initiative and GDO`s seem geared towards providing a conveyor belt for those who are already strong. People need to get their hands dirty in Corby, Northampton and Rugby where assistance is required and look at places like Derby and Leamington Spa with a view to setting up again, perhaps starting with underage only.

If people want to re-jig things fine but lets have some serious impartial thought on this!

Get down to training early next year and try and make something of your club, far too many teams dont put in the effort, like my own this year have forgot about the basics and ethos of what makes a team hopefully after our AGM we will get back on track as we have the players to dominate warwickshire in the coming years.

I put my boots away a few years ago, but played in all grades of adult football in Warwickshire over around 20 years and managed one of my clubs adult teams as well.

At some stage you have to realise that it is time to give someone else a chance, however I follow my clubs and Warwickshires progress with interest.

People have to make decisions for themselves but need to know if something else has been tried or suggested in the past.............and what happened.

Congratulations to barnabas on winning the intermediate league yesterday by convincingly beating John Mitchells. Was at the game, no doubting Mitchells not at full strength but Barnabas definitely have a strong spine of the team and do believe they were missing a few yesterday. Bit of a concern that Mitchells had only the bare 15 players with a county final comin and there did seem to be a lot of moaning by players. Few Barnabas players very impressed with but not sure who they are but defo a team that could challenge at senior next year if they make the step!!!

St Marys beat Erin Ga Bragh by a point in the Inter league to finish 2nd to Barnabus in the league, Barnabus i think lost one league game all year and Marys lost 2 ..........just shame about the all the walkovers i am sure both clubs and a few more recieved during the season!

Yes FMs have been crowned senior league champions for the season 08/09. You can check their website its got a full update on there successful league campaign, before the championship final they were putting articles on youtube and facebook coming on here and naming their players in the best 15 in warks, but when they were beat in the county final they didnt even put a score on their website.

Macsforfive, Its called human nature. You can't blame us for getting excited about getting to the Championship final, It is a big deal for our club as is winning the League. When we lost in the final, it was disappointing, people aren't gonna bother writing reports etc. What i do remember though is taht we congratulated Macs on their success, which is more than can be said of yourself. But anyway. As regards to players in the warwickshire select, i think everyone was justified.

Macsforfive, i'd hardly say Masters scraped through the league and there was certainly no luck involved., If anything Masters were unlucky not to go the whole campaign unbeaten after a good goal was chalked off in the last minute in the one game we lost. I doubt the other league games will be played now, but even if Macs won their remainder our winning margin would be the same as what you scraped past us last year. you were well beaten in both games - no excuses.

Fair play to Four Masters they deserve a huge amount of credit for their progress in the last few years. I was out at the County final and if Masters had been allowed to play I think it may have been a different outcome, they looked a lot fitter, but the game was stopped every 30 seconds. For my money it was Macs who scraped through this season.
