gael 2200,i hope you are still enjoying last weeks win,but you won`t be holding on to the cup to long,Macs will be taking it back in the next couple of weeks after todays demolition job on RC,lost count of the score somewhere in the region of 8-10 to 1-6.
Intermediate c`ship to be replayed after JM and St.Brendans drew, still fancy Brendans for the replay.

Does anyone know the score or any details from the games at PNH today. Intermediette final and Macs v Casements i believe.
I know Masters had a good Victory in Erdington and are now close to clinching the league title.

That scoreline would suggest it was Casements juniors you were playing Moonshine. I wouldn't get too excited just yet.

Well said hman, FMs have been the best team in warks all year and deserve the league title.

why can't teams inform in advance if they are not going to be able to field, would it be that hard? But no they have to wait to see if the opposition arrive in the hope they won't and can claim the points. we are trying to run a club here in Nottingham and with our club having to travel the biggest distances to get to games we are finding it increasingly difficult to retain players as we have had far too many wasted journeys this year. Last year we were the whipping boys at senior but we did not use that as an excuse not to field and we managed to fulfill all our fixtures right through to the end of October, do clubs have the same commitment in trying to get players out? why can't the clubs have a fine imposed on them or at least reimburse the opposition for travel expenses incurred if they do not field. yesterday there were several people from Nottingham who were absoloutely livid that they had wasted time, money and effort in travelling to Erdington only to be informed on arrival that EGB did not have a team, despite having been in contact with the club throughout the week and being assured that EGB would definitely field. Needless to say their Intermediate Team Manager and Club Secretary were nowhere to be seen yesterday. Surely EGB should at the very least reimburse St.Barnabas for travelling expenses incurred and a fine be imposed. f**king sick to death of this apathy at this grade in the county

nottingham gael, EGB have only fielded in 3 or 4 games all year, yet they were allowed by the county board to put three teams forward this year.Senior, intermediate & junior, an absolute joke. But it seems to be they can do what they like & get away with it. I am sure there is a rule that a fine should be paid but i haven`t heard of the county board imposing one yet this season.
A phone call from someone within the EGB club on sunday morning to say that they couldnt field is what should have happened. Total lack of respect towards your club,an absolute disgrace to let you travel from Nottingham & then not field.

Hman, not getting to excited about anything just stating facts. They were missing a few seniors, not that many but we can only play what team they put out. Not our fault if their lads dont turn up.

gael 2200,you seem to think FM have been the best team all year, have to disagree with you there. They played Macs 4 times this year, with 2 wins apiece, but Macs came away with the main one. COUNTY CHAMPIONS AGAIN.

Moonshine, it was they way you described your victory as a demolition job that suggests you were pleased with yourself. This is not stating facts. Nor is saying - 'the score was somewhere in the region of' but anyway. Congratulations on your County Championship.

Moonshine we have been very short across the 3 teams this year, a fault of our own and again i can only apologise to james and the nottingham team, squad and club what kind of a structure to you think the county board should adopt so that we can finish our league in sept time with all games played throughout the year.

Personally think we should only have 2 leagues play each other once maybe 8 teams 1 relegated 1 promoted, each league will have 3 different cups to play for including the chamionship, alot more games played tuesday and friday evenings, finals saved for sundays and fixture list for the full season published month before start of the season fines imposed upon and points deducted from teams who dont field?????

any thoughts?

Friday and Tuesday games are a waste of time.. always players missing due to work etc!

And if you are playing games every friday or tuesday it hardly leaves anytime to train.. although i realise a game is much better than any training session but still some training needs to be done to work on certain things!

I agree with Gael2200's suggestion with a few modifications. I agree on the two tier league format, but would introduce a reserve championship for the teams which also have a senior team, therefore removing them from the inter champ. These teams would continue to field in the lower tier, with the same rules applying in relation to player eligibilty.

Senior Champ: Sean Macs, Erin Go Bragh, John Mitchels, Four Masters, Roger Casements. (Open draw, encompassing a back door system similar to that used in the provincial championship)

Inter Champ: St Mary's, Naomh Padraig, St Barnabas, St Chads, St Brendan's, St Finbarr's, O'Rahilly's, The Gaels, Sons of Erin. (Open draw, with no back door system)

Reserve Champs: Erin Go Bragh, John Mitchels, Sean Macs, Roger Casements

League Division 1 : Erin Go Bragh, Sean Macs, Roger Casements, Four Masters, John Mitchels, St Barnabas, St Mary's, St Brendans, Naomh Padraig

League Division 2: St Chads, St Finbarr's, Erin Go Bragh Inters, Sean Macs Inters, Casements Inters, Mitchels Inters, O'Rahilly's, Sons of Erin, The Gaels

All teams to play 1 league game at alternating venues each year, similar to the NFL.

themango what are you on about? the games on tuesday and friday (we would obviously still schedule games for sundays) would throw in at 7:30 when the evenings get longer from what i know clubs hardly have any players at training so would be much better to get league/cup games out of the way and keep sundays for championship and finals, i'm making these suggestions as i see soccer and rugby robbing us of our best talent and we need to address these issues and keep young players interested and occupied another issue would have to be the PRO officer the updates or lack of them from the county board website, we should have match reports submitted by club officers we should have up to date league tables we should be able to view the full season programme and not just the upcoming week. I think its best having just 2 chamionpships senior and junior no reserve.

Why are there so many cups to play for (Senior Champs, Senior League, Scanlon Cup, Father Ford Cup, Sugrue Cup, cup for champ 1st round losers. Doc Cup, Intermediate Champs, Intermediate League, Junior Champs, Junior League.) I,m sure I have missed few but you get the idea. No wonder we end up playing till xmas and carry finals over to the following year. Why would JM and EGB want to play for some Mickey Mouse cup in November because they went out of the championship in round one. Everyone has had enough by the end of September October at a stretch.

Che1959, i think the idea you have put forward would work very well, this needs to be put to the county board. But as alot of us know they are very reluctant to change things. As things stand at the moment the standard of football in Warwickshire has gone down a notch or two,and could definatley do with a change. You have lots of cases where teams cant be bothered to field, 2 leagues with eight teams in each would & should make things a bit more competive in the county, most certainly in the seniors. There may even be a couple more teams to challenge Macs rather than just FM at the moment.

gael2200,your comment about clubs being fined & deducting points for not fielding. Its a good job that it wasnt enforced this year otherwise your club would be bankrupt & would finish the season on minus 20 points.

It might be just me but i love playing Gaelic football full stop in may, in december, in champ , in the league or for a cup...!!!!
The thing that does annoy me is fixtures..!!! Why cant they do fixtures a month in advance. There is no reason why the cant do this is there?...!!!!!!

Your attitude Tugout is part of the reason why the game here is where it is. You can get lads to play early in the season, but when things dont pan out and they're out of the championship and not doing to well in the leagur they are not interested in playing. Noone seems to want to play for the enjoyment of the game itself.
Ok, its not ideal playing this late in the year but it is not due to all the cup competitions being played - look how many free weekends teams had in the summer. Its a joke. Also a cup is a cup, why wouldn't John Mitchells want to beat EGB for example to win a bit of silverware. If both teams approach it with your attitude then it does become mickey mouse however if both teams have commited individuals who put their all into the game then it becomes a worth while achievement for whoever is victorious. Not all teams are gonna have a chance at the big one so in the past it has given smaller teams an incentive at this stage of the year. As a Masters man, we have been proud to win the competition more than most in the last few years and celebrated the wins accordingly as Naomh padraig, or Barnabas would have done if they had won on those occasions.

Cheers Moonshine. Unfortunately it appears that the present board, including members of my own club, are impervious to change and indeed the concept of rational thinking. I for one cannot see the attraction of playing games in Nov/Dec, especially when clubs are going weeks without games in the Summer months.

My own club, Erin Go Bragh, although through some degree of fault on our part, went 3 months without a game, and have now had 3 games in successive weeks.
We still have 4 league games to play, Father Forde Cup for 2009, Father Taffe Cup Semi-Final and the Houlihan Cup in Hurling. At this rate we'll be playing on St Stephen's day, and we'll have to cancel our annual game against Chad's on New Year's Day to fit in a League game!
