We are trying to get an underage set up off the ground here in Nottingham , and im just praying that none of the parents of kids that we are trying to introduce to the game have read any of the last dozen or so posts.
Why dont you all save your slagging off of each other and blaming each of each other for this incident , until the next county board meeting.
You are all giving off a bad vibe about the game here , you are associating rascism , bullying , violence , drinking etc etc with our game.
This is not the view we are trying to promote when we are telling parents about all the good things with the game and trying to get their kids playing Gaelic football.

thank you, my team mate commited the foul, the opposing player reacted. a fight ensued on the pitch between players, fans entered the field of play.

That is why the game was abandoned.

forgot to highlight, i went into the macdermotts changing room afterwards and apologised whole-heartedly on behalf of the casements players and supporters' part of what happened saturday. so i am not as biased as you think, i know casements werent innocent and apologised in an attempt to cool things down. i also asked the macdermotts players if they would replay, they agreed. my personal opinion is that the result should stand due to us being 4 points up and in cntrol of the game, but if a replay is organised, my team will be there

i was out at the game but had just been in the car when the incident started. In my opinion both teams were as bad as each other but i totally agree with that as casements were in the lead, significantly so, they should be awarded the match, because i feel that a rematch would not be acceptable and its not certain whether all the bad blood has settled

Both teams should be disqualified!!!!!! and both clubs heavily punished, and fined!!! throw the book at them! how else are you to eradicate this sort of behaviour.

It is ridiculous to suggest a replay, missing out on the all britain will/would and should be a huge disapointment to any young lad, unfortunatly some one will feel unjustly punished but it may help them promote the correct way to behave.

Breffni1 - He didn't say the incident was started by the Macs supporters, he openly said the foul led to the retaliation - I wasn't there so I can't comment but at least read what the youg fella has said. He points rightly that the melee was about 2 players and the referee can settle this down, with supporters joining it just magnifies the problem. Neither side can take pride in these scenes at a U16's game, or any other for that matter.

I would like the opinion of Macs on this one and I don't think the truth will ever become that clear unless a camera was present which I doubt. Can anyone comment as at the minute the story suggests:
- Casments man floors Macs (either bad tackle or visciousness)
- Macs man retaliates
- Couple of others join in
- Macs supporters rush the field
- Casements supporters then join

Referee goes into hiding.

Anyone else notice the 0-0 to 0-0 score in the Barnabas/ Gaels match? Surely a mistake?

Barnabas turned up at Rugby for the second time this season only to find out that Rugby didn't have enough players to field. We gave them about 4-5 of our players and played a 15 aside game. Apparently it is our fault that many of their players didn't turn up as "Barnabas should be playing senior football!!" Their comments, not ours.

A few times this season we have been let down by the opposition who have been unable to field. Perhaps if stricter penalties were imposed for failing to field (a fine), or failing to notify the opposition of an inability to field within a certain time period, then these problems would be cured. At the moment teams wait until the last minute even when they know they are unable to field days in advance; in the hope that the opposition will ring them first allowing their side to take the points.

Congratulations to St Chads on their victory. to reply to previous comments made on this forum, how saddening it was to see EGB members out at PNH watching when back at thier own club a memorial cup was being played in honour of not just a true Gael but a true EGB legend. the game at Holly Lane was by all accounts entertaining and played in the right spirit. shame that people who call themselves supporters of EGB didn't see the need to show their faces and put aside petty differences to pay their resepcts.

After my commitments this year have been fulfilled I will be walking away from the embarrassment that I see as the GAA over here. The sights I have witnessed especially at the under 16 final with grown men attacking kids linked with the other incidents at under age games and the sickening attitude of people towards the Irish that have come over especially those of us from the six counties and the treatment of my culture and identity disgusts me. As for the comments being left here concerning events at Holly Lane last week I leave it to others to try and make political gains as they are the ones that really need to take a good hard look at themselves, come on here and leave your name if your so brave. I personally will wait for the next meeting of EGB members when I will have my say and answer all the lies being told about me around the district. I grew up opposing the oppression and subversion of the will of my community my ideals have not changed. Mac An Bheatha.

Maybe the EGB lads at Pairc na hEireann wanted to see the hurling county final? The lads that were out there were after all hurling lads mostly. Maybe there shouldn't have been a match at Holly Lane at the same time? Some posters here need to get a grip on themselves.

I agree with James regarding something should be done about clubs not being able to field this year and hopefully something will be done at the county board meetings. To travel twice to Rugby and be told they didnt have a enough players is not on, we did the same when playing finbars in Coventry , drove to Coventry to find they had 8 players standing by the changing rooms and that was it, they had hoped we would not turn up we found out and claim the points themselves!

At Inter level the league has turned into a joke, my own club , St Marys, have currently 'played' 13 games in the league but only actually took to the field in 7 of the games with 6 walkovers. EGB failed to turn up today to play us in bham and we have had walkovers against Mitchells, Rugby Gaels, Noamh Padraig and twice against St Finbars. Our only remaining league fixture this year is against EGB again i am not overly confident that will be played either!!

Its proving very difficult to keep lads intersested in gaa since we have not had a game since July but have had 4 walkovers which are no good to anyone.

Hope something can be done abaout it, think as stated before the leagues need restructuring again with perhaps those clubs at Inter who regulary field should be put upto Senior, they would get hammerings in some games but think everyone would rather play a game and lose than sitting at home after being told the morning of the game that the other club would not be fielding for a variety of 'reasons'!

irb1916tal, you would want to get down off your high horse, you seem to have an awful high opinion of yourself. EGB seemed to be running along nicely till you came along.

Fr Forde 2008 Champs

We were better than macs all over the park today, I think people are starting to realise this is a very poor macs outfit and if you can get at them early like FMs done in the league and like we done today they have no answer.

Bring on the championship in 2010 - we want macs in the first round!

gael2200, you say this is a poor Macs outfit,if this is what you believe, well it doesn`t say much for the rest of the teams in this county because at the end of the day Macs are still county champions.
