I played in that era, and I know he was the best.small in stature, but a brilliant footballer. A great inspiration to any young player. He never played County Minor- too small. A year later played for the County Senior team after helping his club to a Championship title, went on to win Al Ireland U21, All Ireland Senior, and four championships with his club. Absolutely Brilliant to watch.

Are you on the hard stuff clipper. There were a lot of footballers on the 92 team

who could claim that title. Its just sad that the current players we look at, not one of them might even make the bench of that squad

Sean Ferriter in the 1960s. The best midfielder we ever had. Captained the railway cup as well when it was a big deal, playing with Cavan and Down greats.

Im not that old clipper. mid 20's. But brain roper ( and with all due respect he tries his best every day) is not even the best footballer in this panel never mind ever. So unless ur under the age of 15 i find that comment strange.

An impossible question to anwser and players from different eras are incomparable. Its reflective of the dearth of talent at present that when players should be much better trained, fitter and more conditioned, Rope is the only one mentioned in the same breadth as McEniff, Ferriter, McHugh and the other heroes of 92.

Michael Carr is another that should be mentioned all-star in 83 man of the match in Ulster final. Also a club legend won a championchip in 93 at 40

Donegal Team Of The Millennium
1. Seamus Hoare
2. Hughie Tim Boyle 3. Pauric Mc Shea 4. Barry Mc Gowan
5. Brian Mc Eniff 6. Martin Gavigan 7. Sean O Donnell
8. Anthony Molloy 9. Sean Ferriter
10. Martin Carney 11. Martin Mc Hugh 12. Micheal Mc Loone
13. Hudie Beag Gallagher 14. Tony Boyle 15. Manus Boyle.

Also, Anthony Molloy (88, 90), Barry McGowan (92, 96), Brendan Devenney (98, 99) and Damien Diver (00, 04) are the only people to have won Donegal Player of the Year Award twice. I think Brian Roper has done it too, but can't find the info.
Martin McHugh is the only Donegal man to have won 2 All-Stars.
Just some things to think about.

Donegal insider you sound like a McHugh fan and McHugh may have been only one to win two all-stars but they weren't invented until the 70s when some of your millenium team were long retired or over the hill. McEniff and McShea at end of careers when won all stars and both also still got replacement all-stars - maybe McHugh did as well. However, McShea and McEniff also won All-Ireland club, a few Ulster club and about 8 or nine club championship medals yet I still don't think either the best ever, nor McHugh. In fact I have no idea who is as I think impossible to really compare different era players unless one is particularly outstanding and none of the above are.
