Right so they are called THE CELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB, wheres the irish in that, theres also a club in spain called CELTA VIGO, are they irish also.

Ireland is only part of the area occupied by celts.

Are Tir Connail Geals in London British or Irish? What about London Irish Rugby club? Are U2 Irish or Dutch because they register their profits in Holland? (Sir) Tony O'Reilly? (Sir) Terry Wogan? (Sir) Bob Geldof Irish or British? Identity and Nationality are a state of mind, whatever people feel comfortable with is the most important thing. Many Scottish based Celtic fans see the club as Scottish with Irish roots, many Irish based fans see the club as Irish based in Scotland, what is the point that some people are trying to make?

Complete with Shamrock.

And Juventus are also English, as are the West Indian cricket team. And the Australian cricket team.

And Kieran Donaghy, and Liam McHale and those basketball lads. Americans, without a doubt.

Ireland's greatest ever sportsman? Michael Jordan, no one to touch him.

So one of the above must be wrong. either they're Irish or scottish.
London irish rugby club are english, they may or may not have irish players, same as munster, thats professional sport. they use the identity to market their product to whaterver people they feel will buy into it. Celtic take millions out of the irish economy every year

you missed my point. i just replied to the fact that you said they were scottish and this was proven in their name "GLASGOW celtic". i just pointed out that this isnt their name and i never said their official name "The Celtic Football Club" was the reason they were irish. i just pointed out this was there name.

they are irish because they are founded by the irish, set up the help the poor irish that went to scotland, also said by their founder that they were set up for the irish people living in ireland who wanted to support them. when did they suddenly become scottish? after 40 years?

so you think the present business has something in common with what the man from ballymote had in mind?? i reckon they became scottish when the began to play scottish people.
I am really trying to follow your logic, so not having glasgow in the name makes them Irish ?

when did i say "not having glasgow in the name makes them irish". the point im trying to make is the name has nothing to do with their nationality as you were trying to argue it did. and you were trying to prove this by saying their name was "glasgow" celtic which i just pointed out it wasnt.

well did cardiff turn english when they started playing english football dhorse dhorse, because thats what that last sentence implies. im just going by YOUR "logic"

Cardiff ARE English according to YOU as they were formed by an Englishman.

Just like Juventus and Milan those other famous English teams.

Possibly, but Sarsfields in Argentina, former World Club champions when the title meant something, not a lot, but something, were founded by Irish men.

So they must be Irish, playing against their English local rivals Boca Juniors. That Englishman who punched the ball into the net in the World Cup, Maradona, he played for them. Must have been an own goal.

Thanks you Real Louth. I write for the discerning reader, I would be disappointed if you enjoyed it or understood it.

By the way, I am stupid for thinking Milan are English, but half of Ireland are not for thinking Celtic are Irish. I think you may be becoming slightly obsessed Real :Louth.

Enjoy life, try not to achieve the impossible.

Everton & Panathinikos were founded by Irish priests,I asked a PAO supporter (short for Panathinikos) if that was true and he said it was,Everton are the only catholic club in Liverpool,Goodison has a catholic church right outside of it and the churchbell is from Selskar Abbey.

Theres no truth in Celta Vigo being founded by Irish priest but,it was Irish Catholic priests who founded (believe it or not) Sao Paolo of Brasil when they were helping the poor of the countries
