223708 Seems to be an awful ot of "anti-celtic" posts here from the same posters who would have argued for the opening of Croke Park to Soccer and Rugby. Does this make sense?

Yes

And as for the nonsense of "...thousands of Irishmen support Rangers, due to links with the club. Are Rangers "Irish" in that case..." Do you really believe that these guys would see rangers as an Irish club?? They are welcome to and i would support them but Cop yourself on!

No, they see them as a scottish club, which they are, same as celtic

I don't think you have a clue. The Scottish Catholic Cardinal Keith O'Brien has made reference to the anti-Catholic undercurrent that runs through Scotland.
I have a clue ok, as for Cardinal O' Brien, not too aware of him, but im sure he's a typical Catholic cleric,
all for democracy...... When was a parish priest, bishop. cardinal or pope elected by the members.
Against discrimation...... how many catholic bishops are women....

Is it mandatory for everyone in the 6 counties to support celtic or rangers. Why would you support scottish teams instead of your local teams?

I have said for years that the problem in the north is that many want a united Scotland.

Hilarious listening to and watching the fixation of many Gaels with English soccer teams WITHOUT much criticism or negative comment but once Celtic are mentioned they all come out with their opinions. What a bunch of **** as our American cousins might say! Now I am ready to be corrected on this but was it not Michael Davitt who laid the first sod at Celtic Park with the blessing of the Irish Republican Brotherhood? The Irish Catholic Marist Brother Walfrid was the man behind Celtic's formation so those trying to deny or diminish Ireland's involvement in Celtic are in denial. It's the usual revisionists who are trying to rewrite Irish and Scottish history who laud all this anti-Celtic baloney. I am a proud Irishman, Ulsterman and Gael but have no shame in supporting Celtic, a family who make ALL sections of the community and people welcome. HAIL! HAIL!

Well said Ulsterman, the very people slating Celtic are the ones talking about their beloved man u. Like the majority of fans supporting english clubs they would struggle to find their teams hometowns on a map!!

Hail Hail Ulsterman and sean og I'm with ye 100%. Irish supporters of some Clubs e.g. Chelsea would be in more danger from some of their fellow English Chesea supporters then the opposition.

In fairness i am just going by the clubs official website which says they are a british club. They may have done alot to help the irish community abroad, fair play to them.

Fair play cork-celt, ulsterman, ThomasClarke1, monaghan_ultra et all for your knowledgeable and worthwhile contibutions on this thread. I've no doubt that you (and many others) took great pirde in the fact that it was Celtic FC supporters who carried the Tri-Colour accross Europe in 1967- a period when Ireland (north and south) was on its knees- economically and politically. They carried the flag (like they do now) with pride and passion and were welcomed with open arms- JUST LIKE NOW. To people like bad.monkey, you keep showing yourself up, your knowledge of Irish history is limited. I am a proud Irish man, proud Tyrone man, proud GAA man and proud Celtic supporter living in England. 'Let the people sing their stories and their songs, the music of their native land!'

I have no problem with people supporting English, Scottish, French or Italian football teams.

I do have a difficulty if someone asks me which English Club have won the Champions League/European Cup most times and the answer turns out to be Milan.

Founded by Englishmen.

I hope the above is not too profound.
