Wheres this post going! and who cares? Never liked Rangers or Celtic because it the same two team from scotland that win 99.9% of the trophies up there and the sectarianism disgusts me , now the banter between rival county fans is Great as that's all it is banter Never seen a serious incident in 29years I have been going to games apart from the odd drunking idiot.

bad.monkey If you are born in a stable does that make you a horse. Many Scottish people not alone Celtic supporters don't regard themselves as British. Go to any pub in the East End of Glasgow and at the end of the night when it comes time for the National Anthem, twill be the Irish Anthem that is played. That is the point the poster was making. Everybody here knows their geography so your response is both unimaginative and boring.

Did I miss the news? Scotland breaks away from Britain. What happened, who led it.

By the way Tomaoo 7, ignore Real Louth. He tried to be more Irish and "fight the good fight" than anyone else until I invited him to Andersonstown for a friendly discussion.

He has been sulking since. Mind you, when he wants to be, he can be quite sensible on certain topics.

Im very glad that many people replied to the measage regarding Rangers FC. Can I also point out soemthing to many posters? Celtic FC is and always will be linked to us as Irish people and GAA people. As millions of immigrants know, Celtic and the GAA provided a wonderful link to home when we left Ireland. I too like many poeple posting have attended Celtic games in Fulham, Peterborough and Coventry and at all those games many peolpe proudly wore their GAA jerseys. Celtic fans symboloise Irish spirit especially for immigrants!

No but its a fairly good indictator. As for my factual response boring you corkcelt, i am aware from other threads that you have no interest in facts just unfounded allegations so im not surprised.

The clubs official website says they were the first BRITISH club to win the European Cup

Without a doubt they are located in an area called and governed by Britain. However, If you knew anything about Celtic you'd know that the najority of their fans rarely go on about being a British team, sometimes a Scottish but rarely British if ever at all.

However, the point being made is that the majority of their supporters feel Irish and indeed count the flags on the terraces. What would you say the ratio of Irish to Scottish to British flags is??

Kinda says something about how the supporters feel and they do so in great numbers which, according to the Anti-CCB/Ger Mc guys IT'S ALL ABOUT THE NUMBERS.

Celtic fans feel Irish yet happen to be located in Britain. Saying they are a British team is a mere technicality.

Celtic fans are staunchly anti-racist/anti-fascist largely due to the racist and sectarian attitudes that they have to deal with in their own country due to the religion and/or ethnicity of a majority of Celtic fans.

Where is their own country???

patrique not seeking an argument as I don't want to be summoned to Andersonstown, but would you describe yourself as British. If one follows bad.monkeys assessment then there are quite a number of Brits posting on this site.

bad.monkey re your post that most of Celtic players are British. Of the starting 11 on Saturday. There were 3 Scots 1 Pole, 1 German, 1 japaneese, 1 Spaniard, 1 Dutch, 1 Australian, 1 Irish and 1 English. The English lad got injured after 12 mins and was replaced by another Irish lad. ( I am counting Aiden McGeady as Irish even though born in Scotland as he has declared for Ireland and plays on Irish International Team)

I seem to remember when I showed you up on that post I clipped your wings for ye. Showed your true colours. You are the worst sort of person in threatening violence when you lose an arguement. Even worse is that you would do it over a website where you don't have the courage to face your opponents. Now you retort several weeks later with more lies and nonsense. have a bit of decency about you.

You've been awful quiet since though. Appart from the odd rant of somone who has completely lost their way now that there is somebody here to end your spurious commentary.

Corkcelt, I was born in Ireland, that makes me Irish. Born in Scotland you are Scottish.

Politically we have the United Kingdom, and Great Britain and all that, and these people are entitled to a British passport.

No-one has yet mentioned that hundreds of thousands of Irishmen support Rangers, due to links with the club. Are Rangers "Irish" in that case, or would they be like Celtic, a Scottish team?

I know many fine Celtic supporters, football supporters. You could compare them to ordinary decent Orangemen, in that their fathers and forefathers before them were Celtic fans, and they did likewise, just like many ordinary Orangemen. A close friend at work, totally anti-sectarian and anti-racist, has been watching Celtic since 1962, attending many games. He is however mature enough to confess that alas there are many thousands of bigots allegedly supporting the club.

However 90% of my local Celtic supporters club dislike non-Catholics, black people, foreigners, English people (bar those who play for Man United or Liverpool) and would be serious bigots. Alas they are a bit like those unfortunate Northern Protestants memorably described by Susan McKay in her magnificent book as being "in search of an identity". They want to be "Irish" but have no concept of Irish culture, language, music or games. To them Glasgow Celtic, a Scottish football team, are the most "Irish" thing in the world. Best summed up by the great photo of the lad outside Croke in the Celtic jersey with the banner "Say no to Foreign Games".

So Corkcelt, I am Irish by dint of birth, but I do not consider myself superior to other nationalities by dint of Irish birth.

So do posters agree that it's a good thing, that rangers are trying to get involved with the gaa in the uk.I for 1 could not have seen this coming in my life time.Yet this thread turns into sectarian thread unbelieveable.I think rangers should get credit for there efforts.
