Celtic and Rangers are about as Irish as Man U or Liverpool...... Isnt spending your money going over to look at these teams more unpatriotic then buying groceries in Newry?

What are you saying Big Sacks and Dellboy that Ulster is not in my country. Newry and Strabane means as much to me as Tralee or Sligo or any other town you care to mention. This Land is my Land, This Land is your Land.

I agree with you because to me both sides as some call it is one to me.

Thank you Hipster.

Cork Celt, William Orr Celtic Supporters Club, Antrim/Crumlin, named after a proud Presbyterian Minister and United Irishman who would be turning in his grave if he knew this club was named after him. Protestant, Catholic and dissenter? They wouldn't have William Orr anywhere near them in the club if he rose from the dead due to his religion.

I happen to know practically every member, had to chastise about 40 of them when they objected to us playing IRISH traditional music, when they wanted to sing Chucky songs. This occurred in a pub we had played in for years.

My point about the Celtic jerseys on St Patrique's Day was to illustrate that the most Irish thing to these people is a British/Scottish soccer club. They would also support trouble continuing in the North mainly because they know very little about Ireland.

I do object to that.

I see the Dublin Rangers supporters club are holding a St.patrick's night celebration. I got this from one of the Rangers websites. That's unpatriotic of them they should be having a St. Andrew's night in Glasgow.

patrique I must say you continue to intrigue me as you gradually reveal details of your curriculum vitae. Along with your other attributes I now realise you are a traditional Musician with the ability to chastise "about 40 unruly Neds" who disagree with your musical taste. No doubt when I am next in Belfast I will have little problem finding you, you will be the one wearing your underpants on the outside of your trousers. Hmmmm Superman or Walter Mitty? I wonder.

233353 dhorse. The Club was founded to raise funds to buy Penny Dinners for the starving Irish children of Glasgow. They could hardly have done that playing Gaelic Football considering every other team in the Scottish League were playing Soccer.

a noble cause indeed, im sure they would have fed starving children no matter where they came from.

I will try and deal with as many of your Queries as possible here, Laois and cork game was a total mismatch, our chaps are too small, badly organised and simply not near cork in ability. the scoreline didnt do cork justice, 2-24 was nearer the mark. if they can get over kerry they will be near the mark, were you at the game, met a few from Ballyvourney.
as for the nationalist definition, i would not attempt to to argue with the oxford dictionary, bloody english again, i was more interested in your interpration of it, as in ireland it seems to be taken for as being the same thing as been republican. However over the course of history nationalism has generally been used to rally people around a fascist cause in the guise of nationhood, the national socialists in germany are the most glaring example. No i do not have a doctorate in anything, but i like to think i'm a good observer,.
I was not avoiding you at all lad, to use a common term of endearment on these threads, was out with the kilfenora last nite, a ramble in the hills earlier today and a football match this evening.
as for the Rangers song i never herd of it, and was curious, still am, but as somebody else asked if they were no rangers there what was the point.
as your a soccer fan how do you think city will go this year, one of the better grounds for a game in the league, hopefully the new glenmalure will rival it, used to attend Flower lodge a fair bit whebn i lived on the skehard road.
Anyway boss hope i've touched on most outstanding issues there, yours in sport, dhorse

Corkcelt, I have a lot of time for Celtic myself. Have to say you take the whole thing far too seriously. Singing songs about Celtic in a Cork pub leaves me wondering have you nothing better to do. Sad. I'd sooner sing songs about a really great team like Portumna. By the way mock not the Horse. Top poster on this site.

233431 dhorse Are you being dense or simply childish, that is a standard chant sung by supporters all over the world to tease their rivals after a goal is scored or a victory secured. p.s. You asked me for my definition of a Nationalist as if you were going to say something very important. I reply and you ignore my reply and ask another silly question. Is this your way of responding to the Cork Laois result or to quote yourself in another post, have you had a liquid lunch.

Sorry boss i missed this one, im not being deliberately dense, but maybe i am childish, not knowing that particular refrain would probably nail that one down ok, i've attended games in all sorts of places, but i missed that one, they do one something like it in ankara, which seems to have the desired effect of offending people, but im sure thats not what the well behaved Celts intention is.
As for saying something important. i feel i will.
i didn't ignore your reply. its that my next post was put up before your reply and then i went out
I've had loads of liquid lunches. had one last tuesday, not good on skis i can tell ya.
