Good win for Colmcille, people seemed to be writing them off a bit early, they might only be getting started. Is the league going be run off before the championship does anyone know?Who is on the fixtures committee in the CB?Is it still Clarke and Quinn from Dromard? kasbah_bliss (Longford) - Posts: 41 - 26/04/2009 17:46:27 268330 Link 0 |
league won't be finished by the time the championship starts which is due to start after the wicklow match (or if we win that the westmeath match). there are fixtures up on the longford website until the middle of june, with 3 rounds of games with dates tbc after that. i presume once the championship starts the league will be take a hiatus for a while as there won't be too many spare weekends with the new championship format. along with the fact that there are leader cup quarter finals this year it probably means the league still will stretch into late october/november. Having said all that, i'm not complaining or being negative just stating my opinion. The league seems to be ran very efficiently and smoothly this year compared to previous years with clubs knowing exactly what league games they're playing for a couple of months in advance which was unheard of in years gone by. I think Seamus Quinn is still in charge of the fixtures committee but I'm not sure. In other news the div 1 results over the weekend were as follows: Colmcille 1-12 Slashers 1-8 Abbeylara 3-11 Fr M Gaels 0-7 Clonguish 2-16 Connollys 0-8 Columbas 3-12 Rathcline 1-12 Mostrim 0-7 Ardagh 0-3 St. Marys 1-8 Dromard 0-9 Ballymahon 4-10 Killoe 1-5 So good wins for clonguish, ballymahon, colmcille and granard over the weekend. with both abbey and st.columbas continuing their impressive starts to the league. judging from the scoreline alone and nothing else the mostrim v ardagh game appears to have been a dour affair, but i'm open to correction - it could have been fantastic! iluvspuds (Longford) - Posts: 160 - 27/04/2009 12:18:40 268874 Link 0 |
Did county players play for any clubs at weekend? If Abbey, Clonguish, Columba's and Ballymahon notched up those scorelines without their county representatives that is really impressive. Any reports? SlasherNavy (Longford) - Posts: 45 - 27/04/2009 13:51:22 268993 Link 0 |
No they didnt have their county players available. Wouldnt necessarily say very impressive to run up such scores without county players. Opposition must be taken into consideration also. The only impressive one i would say is Ballymahon's score against Killoe who are no pushover. As for the others, discounting Drumlish who were missing a few through injury, running up a big score against the likes of Rathcline and Connolys is no great achievement, two poor teams who will be nowhere near challenging for championship in the summer. Will county players be available at the weekend and next wednesday night (last round before Wicklow match). Jack L (None) - Posts: 3149 - 28/04/2009 23:47:02 270829 Link 0 |
Div 1 games on this weekend: Ballymahon v Sean Connollys - Ballymahon Clonguish v St Patricks - Clonguish Mostrim v Dromard - Mostrim if Dromard don't have county players, away win if they do. Rathcline v Emmet Og - Rathcline Colmcille v Fr Manning Gaels - Colmcille now that they seem to be back in form St Marys v Longford Slashers - Slashers Abbeylara v St Columbas - Abbey in what will prob be their toughest game of the year so far Not sure if the county players are playing this weekend or not. iluvspuds (Longford) - Posts: 160 - 29/04/2009 11:17:21 271000 Link 0 |
Here's my predictions, wouldn't say colmcille are "back on form" just because they beat and understrength slashers team! SonicDHedgehog (Longford) - Posts: 150 - 29/04/2009 12:43:28 271088 Link 0 |

think that was actually 3 in a row for granard, practically robbed slashers do i have to say. abbey were very lucky to get a draw on sunday, Mullinalaghta are goin as well as any team but it will be a different story come championship!! Delighted to see Mullinalaghta,Granard and Colmcille continue their recent good form. Mullinalaghta really the surprise packet in the league but can they compete in the championship? Abbey and Clonguish still the championship favourites in my book with Clonguish now in pole position. 2.16 and 4.12 scored in last two games is some return. Why have they improved so much? Any update on the Fermanagh game? Is the team now falling into place or are any positions still up for grabs? TurnipAyter (Longford) - Posts: 161 - 05/05/2009 16:46:35 275387 Link 0 |
Im delighted to see mullinalaghta go so well, would love to see them keep it up for championship! Who have they in the first round?! Very hard to see abbeylara or clonguish being beatin come championship though. yup (Longford) - Posts: 24 - 06/05/2009 12:07:15 276034 Link 0 |
There in a group with Dromard and Colmcille, couldn't see either of them missing out on a quarter final spot. so wouldn't have high hopes for mullinaghta come champ time! SonicDHedgehog (Longford) - Posts: 150 - 06/05/2009 14:57:06 276252 Link 0 |

I wouldn't rule out mullinalaghta atall atall. No matter what anybody says colmcille are very average this year so mullinalaghta could cause an upset. daboyo (Longford) - Posts: 41 - 08/05/2009 15:50:26 278273 Link 0 |
