SlashersNavy your not the only one getting your predictions right!
The league has been quite predictable so far really. Only surprise over weekend was how much abbey beat killoe by, guess killoe are just being talked up again, for no apparent reason! Also predicted clonguish would beat dromard, think their living off their success in last few years bit too much, reckon abbey, clonguish or slashers will easily account for them come championship. Interesting to see if the windies can keep their run going this weekend..

Yeah Sonic you right but i was tongue in cheek patting myself on the back.
Can anyone confirm if county players were involved yesterday?
Colmcille appear to be very understrength and without Enda Farrell and Declan Reilly then i am not surprised they got beat yesterday. Wait til summer time and they will be hard stopped again.Remember the championship score last year between Columba's and Colmcille??
I am really surprised that Killoe and Mostrim have not kicked on from last year. But again they will both perform ok in the championship i think.
Please if you were at a game yesterday post an update. Also would Ryan have unearthed any new talent yesterday if he attended the game you were at?

Think that comment about Killoe being talked up again is a bit harsh. They have some quality players, especially with Sean McCormack at full forward. However, their main problem in my opinion seems to be at midfield, where they will win most duals in terms of fielding ball from kickouts but have absolutley no legs whatsoever. Aidan Keogh and Ian Brown 2 of biggest midfielders in Longford but unfortunately for killoe also 2 of the slowest in my opinion. As for plyers Ryan could take note of, I know he has been mentioned before but Ruari McElligott gave another towering midfield display at the weekend and unlike the afore mentioned Keogh and Brown, this man has legs and can get around the park. Good football brain also, deserves a chance!

not a great performance at all by us yesterday, that said clonguish were impressive. but they have that ability, loads of class players. they should be winning championships regularly with that team. abbey are favourites but clonguish do have the firepower to take them

SlasherNavy:

I suggest you go back up the thread and check the date of the message that said that Ryan was holding the county players for last weekend. It should give you your answer.

Colmcille appear to be very understrength and without Enda Farrell and Declan Reilly then i am not surprised they got beat yesterday.

That's strange - I seem to remember you saying that:

County champions just back from a "sun training camp" but still have too much for Mullinalaghta. Away by 4.

Obviously that wasn't one of your "virtually 100% correct" predictions.

Wait til summer time and they will be hard stopped again.Remember the championship score last year between Columba's and Colmcille??

I do. Let's see how it goes this year.

Was in town on saturday doing the auld bit of shopping! and took a trip with a Mostrim mate of mine up to watch the Slashers v Mostrim game. I intended on going for the first half and expect slashers to be so far in front that I could head home in time for Ant & Dec's Saturday Night takeaway! However I was quite surprised as Mostrim led Slashers by 2points at the break. It was hard to work out because Slashers were definitely the better side but for some reason they were behind. Slashers continued to impress but let in two terrible goals which probably explains why it was close. But to be fair to David Morgan, the finish for one of them was quality. The joke of it all was the added time Frankie Toher added on at the end. It was a draw and he must have played about 10mins extra, then Slashers scored the winner and he blew the whistle up! It was tough to take on the Mostrim lads. There numerous Slashers players watchin the game so there were slightly understrength - Gilleran, Ghee, Brady, McRory, Sheridan absent. Best on show was probably Paul Kelly against his old side and Colin Smith kicked some sweet ones. Slashers need something more from their forward play to stage a real showing in the championship again this year. Impressive for Mostrim was Fintan Coyle at midfield and David Morgan at his stages.

Turnipayter when i read your post i admit i appear to be contradicting myself somewhat. I did go for Colmcille at the weekend and acknowledge a fantastic result for Columba's in the local derby. However Colmcille minus Reilly and Farrell will struggle as the former is their playmaker and Farrell has a real presence all over the pitch. They appear to be suffering somewhat of a hangover to date in '09 which is not surprising and with top 8 teams qualifying for Leader Cup play offs then many teams know that perhaps as little as 8/9pts will be enough and therefore are easing in to the year? I agree absolutely that the North Longford championship group will be interesting especially with Pearse Pk not hosting early games.

In my opinion its far to early to be naming favourites.Everyone is missing players.Connollys seem the worst hit.Colmcille struggling to get going without Declan C Reilly.Dont think killoe ae missing anyone. From the so-called abbey team that are going to lift the connolly cup,i heard four of them were not on the starting line-up for the killoe game..Havent seen drumlish play yet but they seem to be doing well. Not sure if they are missing anyone.Slashers still had enough to hold out an up and coming mostrim side without the players mentioned in one of the comments above.dromard will always be hard handled with the likes of McGee and Mimnagh.Ardagh hard hit by the loss of their two best players in the last year.Dont think they will do anything come championship time.mullinalaghta arent missing any players (apart from young matthews last weekend). They are showing gud promise but like Aston Villa will they die out????Granard have been struggling over the past few years. They were supposedly unlucky to only to get a draw out of the columbas game as they were by far the better team according to reports.

"I do. Let's see how it goes this year."

I think Shane Mulligans antics at the end of the game on Sunday ensured that there will be a few Colmcille players slightly more up for that game then they might have been.
Lets hope for his own sake he has as much celebrating to do when championship time comes around.

St Marys v St Patricks...granard to edge it with home advantage decisive.
Emmet Og v St Columbas...Killoe to end Mullinalaghta's unbeaten record, 4 point win.
Rathcline v Fr Manning Gaels...Going for a draw, dour stuff to be served up!
Abbeylara v Longford Slashers...Abbey to scrape it in clash of big boys.
Colmcille v Dromard...Dromard to clinch it in another big gun clash.
Mostrim v Sean Connollys...Mostrim to finally get off the mark.
Ballymahon v Clonguish...Clonguish.

County players are available I assume?
