That's fair enough patrique , I was basing West Belfast on my experience of workmates who are involved with the GAA in Belfast , mainly with Lamh dearg. I also have a couple of mates down Poleglass way which is soccer territory. When I moved to Derry almost a decade ago I was expecting to find a thriving GAA scene in the city due to the overwhelming nationalist majority in the city but was surprised to find only 4 football clubs and one hurling club in a city of 110,000 people. At that time only one club , Sean Dolans from Creggan had a ground of their own , since then Steelestown have developed a fantastic pitch and club house in Ballyarnett. Pearses and Doire Colmcille are still using council pitches to play on (Celtic park was also being used by these clubs but is now being redeveloped) but Na Magha hurling club have plans in place for a pitch of their own so slowly but surely the profile of the GAA is bieng raised in the 'maiden city.' Long may it continue.

I hate Tyrone. I hate most styles of there play. I like Kav and Dooher and O'Neill Super players. Its McMenamin and blanket defences and most of all... they're not on the scene a wet day and they call themselves the kings of GAA.

I don't see what's wrong with our style of play. We're as offensive (bit of a double-meaning there hehe) as we are defensive.

uncle sam
The reason Kerry arnt realy hated on such a scale is because they play attractive football and they arnt in your face about it and lets face they can be in everyone face they're miles ahead in the records

the reason for this is when you know ur the best you dont need to keep saying it, if the tyrone fellas really believed it in their heart of hearts, we wouldnt have all the rubbish that we do

i'm sorry to tell you ulsterman...that in some quarters down here..people have a lot of respect for tyrone..they admire the free flowing football we play and the passion we play with, and true gaa people appreciate the defensive qualities we bring to the game, not to mention the tactical genius that is mickey harte...it's just that on here you have all these headbangers spewing out their bile and hatred, but they don't reflect the true gaa opinion in the south..unfortunately too many people read the tripe that comes from some in the media, and this is where their ill-informed views of tyrone football come from....many of my colleagues in mayo appreciate the quality of tyrone football, and only wish they had some of it themselves
