192905 RMD, whats your angle here? I mean I get called every name under the sun, abused from a height and not a word. I retort, and you go on the attack....??
I am well able to fight my own battles and am well used to it, but if your gonna get involved, at least have a proper look
That is all
Liam

Don't really have an angle Liam. It's just that HS is constantly teetering on the brink of becoming a playground for WUM's and Trolls. You have been around long emough and are sensible enough to ignore what is posted by said persons. We need more reasoned debate and respectful discussion and it's annoying when one of the "old-timers" stoops to their level.

Has the GAA suffered since Croke park was opened up for foreign sports?

Answer is a definite NO.

In fact the public perception of the GAA is improved 100% and there are more numbers playing its games at all levels that at anytime before.

Says the person who thought it would be funny to start a thread titled "Multiple Threads" two minutes after I had started a thread with almost an identical name. I would have thought that to be an attempt at a wind up, RMD????

Merely a momentary lapse Loyal. Perhaps similar to your McKenna cup one?
And it was funny ... for the 5 minutes that it existed on the board.

denzel you are wrong about more people playing gaa now than ever, in fact numbers are dropping at underage level. Where did you get your figures? This has alot to do with kids just watching tv and playing computer games...etc The only sport which has seen an increase in numbers both watching and playing underage since croke park has been open is rugby. More underage kids are playing rugby now than ever before. Opening croke park has certainly been a factor in this.

That said i like rugby so i think its great more kids are playing but to say in opening croke park the gaa has not lost potential players to other sports is just plain wrong.

Ok boys and girls, have gone through the 2 "foreign games" threads. 31 people agreed with me, 19 disagreed and 2 sat on the fence. RKF and Milo, get off that fence ?
I would post the yes and no names but there is a 4000 word limit I only just discovered yesterday..!Of the better known posters, on the agreeing with me side we had the likes of Baldeagle, Dubinmeath, Breff, Lino, JC, Htaem, Dubupnorth, Olivers, Holy, Loyal, TheRevolution, Mossbags, Ard Ri, Patrique (the king!), Ard Ri, TheMaster, Hill on tour, Triona and Tirnanog. And on the disagreeing side, we had Real Louth Fan, Slayer, Nortpole, Cavanslasher, OmaghJoe, Delboy,Dhorse, Eastgael and NSG.

There any many others on each side, that is just a quick "who's who".
No disrespect meant to anyone no mentioned.

I will you one thing lads, I know which side I would rather have behind me in battle ;) But I would like to bring NSG & Dhorse with me!!

Liam, I already know that i am a BIGOT. I support the G.A.A. dont i and Soccer people have always referred to us as bigots. Anyone who does not see things their way is a bigot so i am proud to be one.

Liam in fairness, you and your mates started the name calling. Go back to the original post you put up. Or can you not remember it becuase you told a load of lies?

As for Ard Ri "roaring his head off" for the cricketers!! Ever been to a cricket match mate? I've been to plenty and like Michael Cusack I have a great love for the sport, but never ever I have seen or heard anybody "roaring" at cricket. It's not that kind of sport.

You are a classic example of a closet bigot. I.E. you put on a facade that you are open minded etc but come a few drunken moments your are what is known as "a closing time nationalist" I.E. a closet bigot Like we've all been saying.

Real Louth Fan,

I think Liam is an attention seeker. Remember in the past he has said 'this message board is my life' and he has also texted newtalk to have his name read out about Aidan O'Mahony in last year's all-Ireland semi final. He also started a topic last year about extending the hand of friendship to ballboy.

If you look at LW's topics he gets loads of reaction. I think he enjoys this not because he sparks debate but because he is the centre of attention. Look at how many times he refers to himself in each of his posts.

For the record, I agree with a lot of what you say, not all, but thoroughly respect your opinion, as that of Liam's, it's just far more difficult to read his posts with the constant referrals to himself.

Liam. Your post contained many points. Some I agree with and with more I disagree. So how do you call it? By not making a sweeping yes or no is not sitting on the fence. Its like the question 'have you stopped beating your wife' yes or no?

"GAA is amateur, remember! It doesn't have competitors!!

Try telling this to the Sean Cavanaghs of this world, he doesnt go out to play Gaelic so he can feel Irish, he goes out to win, to be the best. GAA is an ametuer sport often played at a professional level.

I agree with yer man from Trillick and Slayer!!

All this talk of bigots on this thread....got me in the mood to watch Schindlers List, Downfall and maybe a bit of Cry Freedom.

Throw in Cocoon and I'm all set for a weekend of dvd marathons

(Cocoon Holymoly? Oh yeah, one of the most bigotted films I've ever seen. That auld fella who wouldn't get in the pool even though it would have saved his wifes life!! He got what he deserved!!)
