Monagae Menace, I also admire your optimisim. Not sure it has much of a foundation though. Thats a right tough group you found yourself in. Watched Monagae a few times last year and they were deseving winners of the Junior title, but this is a step up. Honestly can't see any way out of that group for them, let alone win the county. Best of luck! I think ye might need it.

Id just like monagea menace to stop talking rubbish on this site, especially in this topic. From a more realistic Monagea man.

It depends on what you consider ' do good ' to mean! I think if Monagae survive in this division this year, they will have done good. I'm not sure you appreciate how competitive this division really is. There is no easy game. The other 3 teams in your group would not have been disappointed to have drawn the Junior champions. Caherline are not your best barometer to measure your progress, Their success was an exception, not a norm. They were a very established side who had been in the knockout stages of the Junior championship 10 years in a row. Many people feeling that they could have been promoted well before then.
I was at your match against K'derry last year. ye were by far the better team on the day and deserved to win. and did it with your best player only coming on at half time. But we both know that K'derry were missing half their team. And it was the good half they were missing. They will be a tough test in your first outing.
Don't get me wrong, I wan't Monagae to do well and i do believe they can. But your ideas of them doing well and mine are vastly different. My prediction for what its worth, Monagae to survive, maybe even avoid the relegation semi. But thats it. And thats doing good in your first year. Best of Luck

Good man Collymore. I hadn't seen your post when I repied to Monagae mennace. It was a long winded way of saying 'Be more realistic', With out trying to offend the Monagae masses. Happy to see it may be an isolated case of disillusionment.
Do hope ye do well.

Looking at each group its incredibly hard to single out teams to go down, but i did it anyway.
Relegation semis: Monaghea,Kildimo,Ballybricken,NewcastleWest.

Poor aul monagea, hope ye do well this year!! for a small parish, ye have done very well fair play. keep up the hurling and prove everyone wrong.

i think Monaleen or Kildimo will be in the relegation final this year. Monaleen have taken their eye of the hurling
for the past few years and are lucky to be still playing Intermediate hurling. It'll be a crunch game in the group
phase, whoever loses will be in serious trouble. It's a pity, after Patrickswell were relegated last year, i'd hate
to see another city division team go down. I hope i'm wrong.

I don't think Monaleen will be relegated this year but they definitely won't be contenders to win intermediate. They're going to struggle for the foreseeable future as years of little effort towards hurling finally catch up on them. It will be a sad day when they do get relegated as an area the size of Castletroy will be then served by a junior hurling club.

Relegation is as tough to call as it is to pick a winner.
Monagae have work to do? Ballybricken who were a bit unlucky not to get out of their group last year will be up against it this year. Beaten finalists last year Caherline will have to be wary of second season syndrome. It gives an indication of how competitive this division is when I'm saying this about one of last years better sides, but they have a lot of work to do this year.
I think Pallasgreen wil qualify from their group but any of the other 3 teams could find themselves propping it up and this is who I fear for. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that my tip for relegation is the unlikely Cappamore. I could be way out on this, but I'm fairly sure its no more a ridiculous assesment than the chap who tipped Ballybrown or Knockaderry.
Only Time will tell

I fancy Ballybrown to do the business this year but really it's impossible to tell. First games are very important for the smaller clubs. For that reason I think Caherline will go down this year but Ballybricken could beat them too it.
