was at ardrahan...salthill probably should have beaten gort...it was 1-13 to 1-11, not 1-14. ref made some terrible calls for both teams. like really really terrible calls...in his own little world. good match tho - nothin between the sides.

Ya it was good game, yet again spoilled by absurd referring. Dont know what these refs are thinking about at times, when the none of 30 players and 20 or 30 supporters can see the same thing as referree you have to wonder about some decisions. In any event, Gort more likely to go further than Salthill as Salthill lost 4 starting players to senior side on Saturday. Gort are a neat side but still think Aran are team to beat and should win out the west. Aran v Headford maybe?

anyone at the oughterard spideal champship game last saturday it was in moycullen so i went. was a great game the goal and 3 point win by spideal was not a fair result they just got a lucky run of scores in the last 5 mins 1 or 2 point win was really only what spideal deserved. i thought spideal would walk the game but oughterard led at half time by a point and looked like winning the game for the most of the second half. where spideal missing anyone? oughterard have some nice players the full back and centre back where solid and had a good full foward but their mid fielder really was the one who pulled them though the game he was everywhere. tall fellow will prob play inter for them i'd say. maybe was lucky to stay on the field spideal crowd seemed to think he took one of there players out, didn't see it so can't comment. can anyone say for sure? though spideal can't really complain they were lucky not to have two of their players sent off. was a good fast game and maybe if oughterard had changed the no.12 instead of the center forward they might have won the game, the number 12 wasted all the ball he got. a great one for a netutral, can't see spideal going back up this year.

Moycullen Abú - That Midfielder your on about is a friend of mine, good player. He was telling me Spiddel were very lucky near the end of the game. Its a surprise Spiddel are not doing better this year, have they lost players or whats their story?

Spiddle are doin ok, they are still in the championship and doin good in the league. maybe they prefer to keep their heads down instead of drawin attention to themselves.

true they are still in the league but they would have been pushed aside easily by a stronger fitter team, oughterard players legs gave up towards the end of the match this allowed spideal to secure the win

Maybe so socky, but for a former intermediate team they should be a bit more convincing. Another round of games tonight lads, What are we thinking ?

An Cheathru Rua v Barna
Lettermore v Moycullen
Na Piarsaigh v Fr Griffins Eire Og
Renvyle v Aran Islands
Salthill-Knocknacarra v St Colmans
Spiddal v Oughterard

A few replays from championship last week, do you think it makes a difference who won last week?

Spiddel had a convincing win at the weekend. junior a is set up nicely, can't see how anyone can proclaim it'll be the failure of the century if they fail to win it considering how competitive it is.

Why wasn't the Kerrills and Mountbellew game played at the weekend?

only two teams qualify from the junior A groups in the north. four teams qualify from the junior A group in the west because they were not split into two groups like we were in the north. that is according to the county board secretary last monday.

Id say Colmens to beat Spiddel this weekend and Aran to win the other semi? even if Spiddel were to win, Aran would still beat them. They don't look like a team that were in intermediate last year. r they missin players from last year?

A big weekend of action in the west and north ahead. Spiddal and aran in either semi final on the west side but will they both make the final. personally i dont think barna or colmans will be that easy of a push over for any of them. and kerrils finally play mountbellew this friday evening to see who will make the semis in the north. Any predictions? Athenry are looking good this year all right and should have no problem with kk/clnberne, unbeaten is an impressive record but league and championship are totally different. they will have i all to do....saying that though its shaping up nicely in both competitions. May the best team win!!!
