Junior A

There you go so Techland, twas a hurling Sunday indeed. Ye are right lads, these shower are something else. One of the reasons apart from the hurling sunday craic that our game v barna last week was called off was that the Barna hurling game was scheduled for 5pm where our game was at 12.30pm, had it been the other way around it would have gone ahead.

I cant think of enough expletives to describe this county board. Ill settle with Pathetic.

At Stairie, I heard about the match alright, I dont know the fella but the lads were telling me he was clueless too. The game had to be played though Im sure you'll agree, Its as much an effort for our lads to get there as it is for our opponents.

The way junior is organised is an absolute joke, id say 8-10 games played since the start of the season and teams back training since jan/feb?? Is there any chance of a game this weekend maybe!! For once the bad weather is an actual excuse and alot of pitches will be unplayable if this keeps up. i think the championship final is now put down for christmas day the way things are panning out!!!! Whoever makes it better have a microwave to heat their christmas dinner. shambles.

agree completely. the situation in the north is particularly bad. the fact that the north league is split into 2 groups means only 6 league games for some teams (they still cant manage to run them off on time). there are 15 teams in the north i dont see why they didnt just move one team to the west and then have 13 teams in the west and 14 in the north. that wud mean plenty of games for both north and west teams which is all players want and also wud give a truer reflection of the best teams in each league. the way its set up now one team cud be very unlucky lose one game and not qualify for the knockout stages. also the fact that there is no backdoor in the champ means one team cud hav only 7 games in 12 months. is it really worth trainin ur balls off for one game every 6 weeks??

in the mid 90's the intermediate league was run on a home and away basis so teams had 12 or 14 league games aswel as championship games and there was never a problem running them off. in fairness i think our new secretary in the north, ian hynes, will do the job properly. he is only in the job a month or two so from next season it shud be running smoothly.
is the ballygar v st kerrills league game going ahead on wednesday in ballygar?

monivea v athenry athenry
Kerrils v headford draw - but kerrils to progress in the finish
Aran v barna aran

Remember this is just my prediction. Should be an interesting weekend of action in the junior if it all goes ahead, any1 else with predictions?? Any teams missing players or is it full squads all round!! it will make for two good finals with spiddal being the only team thru yet, no matter who progresses in my opinion. this is what the training is done for, best of luck to all concerned!!

Monivea Abbey & Athenry drew in the junior A yesterday evening in a pulsating exicting game of football with both teams putting there all in to the game!! Athenry will be very lucky to come put with a draw yesterday evening as Monivea had all the possesion, it will be some replay!!

Do St Kerrils call games off alot? Our under 16 semi final last year was called off three times by them.

I believe its absolutely terrible how the junior league A is ran this year.
I live close to the galway border so have first hand knowledge of how clubs
are treated....Ya I believe St Kerrils seem to be a force unto themselves.
They can pick and choose when to play their league matches because they have
also "what about our hurling team" excuse. I also hear Headford were robbed in the league
and championship by refs from their club or next door clubs giving them everything.
terrible carry on by the galway county fixture committies.????
