Would have to be Sean ONeill. Not old enough to have seen him in the flesh but from archive fottage and what his generation say then it has to be him. From the more recent generation Greg Blaney and Mickey Linden would grace any team in any era. Damo77 (Down) - Posts: 4 - 15/12/2008 14:05:42 164346 Link 0 |
Greg Blaney, though older people will say Sean O`Neill The Gael (Down) - Posts: 115 - 15/12/2008 14:48:57 164402 Link 0 |

i am glad 2 see that some people have mentioned the ikes of James McCartan snr as wel as junior and also Arkle (Colm McAlarney) but there is one more person i would specially like 2 mention and it is Joe Lennon the All-Ireland winning captin of '68 - other people who I feel deserve a mention are:Kevin O Neill dabiglad (Down) - Posts: 155 - 16/01/2009 10:47:30 182118 Link 0 |

Greg Blaney was my favourite Down player - and he could hurl - The best I have seen would have to be Linden, totally unstoppable in '94 Suas Sios (None) - Posts: 1558 - 21/01/2009 16:10:52 186076 Link 0 |
Have to agree, Linden was brilliant in '94. Best I have ever witnessed from any Down player. Never seen him play, but from what I am told Sean O'Neill was some player. Always liked Greg Blaney, wonderful passer of the ball and well able to tough it out when required. His perfomance in '91 in the Marshes against Armagh was the launch pad for our All-Ireland win that year. pgm (Down) - Posts: 32 - 21/01/2009 16:40:40 186139 Link 0 |
