In my opinion there is no doubt that Francie Bellew should be hit with suspension, theres a difference between the 50:50 combat challenge which he is legendry for, but throwing the head back is a bad act. The ref let alot go in that sort of area and as for the mellee at half time, well I am not surprised that Ballinderry were involved but am amazed that Ballinderry were still in the championship considering the Co Final and the other finalists Slaughtneil getting a six month ban. The Gaa needs to be consistent at the moment Fianna Fail are more consistent and thats saying something.

tomaoo7 ...we must not let these counties destroy the game we love... ????

tomaoo7, you should read the link at the start of a recent thread (Antrim yearbook...Please read Tom1916) - the GAA have never made rule changes because someone has been winning with what some people perceive as negative tactics.

lots of diving and faking injuries, cowardly off the ball punches, head butts, a brawl in the tunnel, endless handpassing. At least back in the 90's there were alot of skilful players in ulster. now its seems 14 rugby league players and one free taker is the norm for teams

Nick, you are being far too coy! The fact is that this did NOT happen until the last few years. It is a deliberate tactic along with all the other **** that we see in every big game. And when two teams decide to engage in it the logical consequence is either a big scrap or a game in which the ball is rarely in play. Seriously considering not going to see any more inter county football matches.

Thought the game was excellent. Two physically strong teams who showed a passion and a yearn to win the Ulster crown. Cross took their chances and when Ballinderry looked like they had gotten back into the game with the goal, Cross upped the tempo and left them behind. Considering the time of year an excellent spectacle.

Really poor game of 'football' - full of diving, players faking injuries, cowardly punches, head butts, a mass brawl in the tunnel, endless handpassing. It was more like rugby league than gaelic football.

Grow Up Rovertin - and tamaoo7 for that matter. As if the Dubs are Angels... Congratulations both teams for a manly display of hard hitting and great football in poor conditions.

Are yo for real? Change the rules because a few teams are becoming too good?
If you arent good enough then theres nothing you can do about it.

The olympic motto is something like Faster Higher Stronger.

Will you see them changing the rules now that Usain Bolt is to fast?

Sport is about skill and the ability to produce that skill, being stronger and fitter means you can tackle more, harder, run more, score more and produce performances for longer.
If teams dont have the physical strength or mental strength to compete, they lose.
Ulster teams have a hunger others dont. You can come up with various reasons why Crossmaglen value GAA more highly or Tyrone have a will to win at club and county level, but at the end of the day Ulster football as a whole is head and shoulders above the rest.

Or another way to look at it, Meath literally battered teams to win the AI in 96, were people from Meath complaining about the tactics needed to win? Did they hell, they said they did what was needed to win.
Its only the teams who lose that complain. Its just sour grapes.

164156 Sore losers, how did quigg get on!!

The post was in at half time my patriotic friend. I didn't give a dame who won the match. But sure you know what, as long as Cross won it then doesn't matter how it was done.

The only ones complaining about Meath "battering" teams in 1996 were Tyrone. Don't ever recall either Dublin or Meath whinging about one another after a match. There's nothing 'manly' about hitting someone from behind and certainly nothing manly about diving either when pretending to be hit or exaggerating the hit.

Let's be clear on this sore loser thing which seems to be a standard reponse to any concerns about the direction the game is taking. I am not a Ballinderry supporter. They were as guilty in this as Cross. Even more so when it came to feigning injury. I don't know how Usein Bolt came into the debate but he got to finish line sooner by being quicker than anyone else. Not by pulling somone else back, tripping someone or throwing his head into someones face before the starting gun was fired.

Crossmaglen are some outfit 3 Ulsters in a row and now favourites for the Andy Merrigan trophy. They were the best team yesterday and to be honest over the 2 games.Whenever Ballinderry lost Muldoon the game was up.It wasn't a great game but it's a horrible time of the year for playing. There is a lot of this playacting going on from every side and that's something which will have to be addressed.Francie is in trouble that 50/50 argument so often used in his defense doesn't apply here, caught on camera no excuses.Still can't see who'll beat them. Was hoping Ballinderry could but well done Crossmaglen... again!

I am a proud Tyrone man.....................................Crossmaglen are some team, other teams should follow their example. The older players led the way by exaple esp John Donaldson.
This team is unreal. They have so much hunger. So much courage and so much footballing ability.
Come on the Cross!!!!!!

Ill certainly be there in Croke Park on St Paddys Day cheering you's on!

What legends of me...........................All cross inhabitants should ignore all the negative messages on this board, people are jealous, and rightly so!

Good luck from Tyrone!

It was a decent game of football for this time of the year. Fair play to Cross they a one hell of a club.
