I've been to Croker countless times for both football and Gaelic football...

NOT ONCE have I encountered a bad seat!! Every view is superb!! Especially up top!!!

Remember one game against W/Meath back in 2001 when I was in the last row upper Canal end. Forgot my glasses and as a result it was cruel hard to see what was happening especially when the ball was in the other end of the field. Now if I was Brendan Cole at one of the recent matches in the same seat I had back then, and forgot my glasses, yeah I would think it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. However I have been in every part of the stadium at this stage, not having forgotten my glasses, and there isn't a bad seat in it. Having said that there are some seats better than others like the middle of the Hogan or Cusack are brill. Also isn't it strange that the better the match the better the same seat seems to become. I think the IRFU will have more control in improving Brendan's seat than Croke Park

I've sat everywhere in the stadium from the GAA'a own box to the last row in the upper corner of the Cusack and while its a long way from the action its still a great view.

Agree Hag - I have been at every rugby game in Croker - including the Armagh ones (ha! only messing Samin) and I have to say the only decent atmosphere was v England (first game v France wasn't too bad either).

Exiledindub: GAA do the vertigo seats alright - a guy I know had to use them once as he was up too high - and he's a pilot - ah no, he's not! As for the 'soakings' - well the summer sport of GAA certainly saw the fair weather and other fans truly soaked this year. Dub/Tyrone, Galway/Kerry are just two of many, many soakings that were served up by Evelyn Cusack & Co this year!

Agree with everyone re the distance from crowd to pitch for both soccer and rugby - makes it harder to generate an atmosphere. Having said that its up to the teams to get the crowd going and that hasn't been happening in either soccer or rugby lately. I've been at a few GAA games that were subdued too - not Dublin ones though - except Tyrone maybe!!!

One thing I have noticed about the rugby crowds is the complete lack of colour - noticed this again last Saturday. The kids have the jerseys but the 20 somethings up prefer the barbour jackets. Even their scarves are those posh neutral Trinners ones - like a poor man's Burberry (!). There's more colour in Dubupnorth's telly! Roight?

Have to point out that there ARE some bads seats in Croke Park. Very few of them mind - I'd say no more than 20. I had a seat in the upper Cusack very close to the curve into the Davin stand. I was to the Davin stand side of an entrance and there were safety bars right in the way of my view. No big deal but never the less, a bad seat. So the rugger lads must have all been sitting in that seat. Cosey!

Say no to racism

If Brendan Cole (who is he anyway - never heard of him) and his Rugby pals don't like the seats in Croke Park, they should arrange for the matches to be played somewhere else. The sooner Lansdowne Road is opened up the better and we won't have to read any more rubbish like this article. I look forward to the day when Rugby and Soccer are no longer played in Croke Park.

Listen all rugby and soccer lads. We and the GAA are doing ye a big favour letting ye come onto out stadium. We even had to change one of our rules for ye. So to hear ye come on here and complain about our seats is just so irritating.

The GAA arent doing anyone a favour lads. The rugby and soccer boys are paying a fortune to RENT croke park. Its not being handed over to them as some kind of neighbourly gesture

In fairness to the IRFU, they are a fantastic organisation and i cant wait til the new lansdowne road is finished. No doubt it will be one of the finest stadiums in the world where people have a proper view from every seat, not like in croker

i beleive its the sport that is been played in the stadium is the problem, have been to both rugby and soccer games in stade to france and they are hard to follow because you are so far from side lines, been to bernabeu and non camp and view is better becasuse they are purpose built for soccer. croke park is built for gaa games and as the action is so much faster everyone has a good view the sidelines are closer to the seats. they wanted us to open up the stadium ( which i am in favour of) and now they are complaining of seats typically begrudgery. wait and see when landsdown is open and can only hold 50,000 they will be back looking for croker to hold bigger crowds on big name games. never had a bad view in croke park yet and atomosphere on match days is always great.

I hope that when the I.R.F.U. open Landsdowne Road they hold their biggest game on All Ireland Final day as then the genuine G.A.A. supporters might have a chance to get tickets for Croke Park !!!

Me thinks that the rugger fans must be as fat as the players if they find the seats uncomfortable.

Ruggers are poor losers at important matches. You'd think they'd be used to it though!

Croker is perfect in every aspect including seating. The only criticism is that it is U shaped and not a full circle - i still don't get wht that is?

Anyway, if the ruggers don't like it...try getting 80,000+ into the RDS or Ravenmad!!!

i think this Cole fella is talkin thru his you-know-what. ive never had a bad view in the stadium, and ive been there dozens of times

i do remember standing at one end of Lansdowne Road, on the terraces running length-wise along the field, and not being able to see half of the game. absolutely brutal. it was a rugby game against Australia, 2005 i think. and ive sat in the stands too, and on one side of the ground, the seats were a bloody disgrace. the stand in Dr Cullen Pk was a mile more comfortable. so this guy's memory is either very short, or he hasnt being attending rugby internationals in Ireland for a very long time

the gas thing is, ive heard rugby fans complaining to my face about it too. when did they have a stadium that was even close?!

that said lads, yere kidding yereselves saying Croker is one of the best stadiums in the world. ye've been listening to Marty Morrissey's commentary too often. it was one of the best in the world 10 or 12 years ago, but things have moved on. look at the Olympic Stadium in Beijing, or the new stadiums in Germany. Croker is looking its age
