Right lads, let's cut the slagging and insulting remarks. As a Meath man I am embarrassed at Pairc Tailteann. Personally, not having been in the dressing rooms or recently played on the pitch of either stadium I can only judge from the spectators point of view. Both County boards should hang their heads in shame. Pairc Tailteann did get major investment and the terrace, which is quite good, was constructed. But that was twenty years ago in the middle of the last recession. I don't believe Newbridge has had any improvement in that time. I have had the pleasure of visiting many county grounds over the past six or seven years and am delighted to see the investments that are being made in these grounds. This includes considerably smaller counties than either Meath or Kildare. It might be too late now to do anything with the recession kicking in. Chances are that the sale of Newbridge will be put on hold until the building industry starts up again and there will be fewer funds available to invest in Navan in the short term. However, both Counties should prepare their respective plans now so that they are ready to start when the economy picks up again.

Re : Willie Nelson

I was at that match actually willie. It was a close game on a cold day which could have gone either way. But my point is this Newbridge pitch may look good but it is actualy very bear. There is hardly any grass on it and it is one of the worst pitches in Leinster..

i find that the atmosphere in smaller pitches can be just as good or even better than the ones with a larger capacity. the atmosphere does be great in newbridge alright the buzz after the cavan match during the summer was unreal but i do agree that it's one of the worst county pitches around. hopefully this new stadium will be a lot better, that's if they ever get started.
