Newbridge "stadium"

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

theres a forum about the best stadiums in the country at the moment so i thought it better to highlight ome of the worst ones.. Newbridge is the worst county ground in the country.its 2 dressing rooms are like matchboxes, how teams fit in is beyond me.theres also a smell of urine in thedressing rooms.the pitch is shocking alsocouldnt believe it when i say it and the stand is alike a pile oh *****.Surely a county with the playing ppulation of kildare should not be subjected to this shambles!

pairc tailteann may be a lot better than newbridge but it's not exactly croke pk. The kildare CB have plans in place for a new stadium. It'll be the best in leinster aside from croker when built.

Ah but still... it may be bad but nothin beats the atmosphere that newbridge can create..

Southern Dandy i know one thing can beat it.
Oven chips covered in lashings of Brown sauce.

as for atmosphere i think a bare knuckle pikie fight would beat it

keep-the-faith. Hard to disagree with what your saying. Basically the land it's on is worth a fortune ( center of town ). As Dayona alluded to the Co. Board have long term plans in place to sell and move to a new stadium outside of town, and as a result the Co. Board havent been wasting money on a place resulting in the place getting more and more delapitated. But the light at the end of the tunnel is the new stadium which in contrast to Páirc Tailteann will always be a ***** hole no matter how much money is poured into it.

Why pump money into it when we are building a new stadium on the edge of the town. And yes it does have the best atmosphere, the Newbridge roar is awesome

Re a few messages:

In relation to Pairc Taiteann being bad.............. The dresing rooms are fantastic - space for 50 if needed compared to Newbridges 20. The pitch in PT has to be one of the best pitches in Ireland and Newbridges is a shamles literally. Just to let you know before you make accusations ive played on both pitches. as in the "newbridge roar" when was the last time the newbridge roar happened?

Is this stadium made of that silver that goes black real easily?

sorry jayo? im honestly not lacking a sense of humour. i know newbridge is a dive. But what did that mean? And parnell park? It's not old trafford now is it. Typical bandwagon dub(joke). Corker isn't your home stadium!

the dressing rooms are brutal nothing wrong with the pitch though.

I never said anything about Croke park or Parnell, Daytona. As for you not lacking a sense of humour well your barbed reply answers that one. Now, I'm too busy, can I ignore you some other time?

Btw It was to do with Newbridge Cutlery or silverware!

I can name about 5 better playing surfaces in the county off the top of my head. It's not a bad pitch but there are better.

You want to see a bad stadium in Leinster?
Try Louth. No designated county ground, but play big home games in Drogheda - Now that is a kip of a stadium. Stand holds about 1000. No concrete terrace at all. "Outside" toilets (at least plenty of fresh air).

Stadium is so bad they cannot play home Leinster Championship matches in the county at all, and have to use either Croke Park on Navan.

thanks for clearing that up jason. Sorry to hear that you have had bad experiences with the newbridge silver wear. Honestly though when was the last time you were in parnell?

John 3-7, the last time I heard the newbridge roar was when we defeated Dublin U21s this year on the way to winning Leinster, it was the game after we demolished Meath in Pairc Tealteann.....do you remember that, probably not because there was hardly any Meath support there......

Heard its a carbon copy of Swansea Citys Liberty Statdium. Question is though will it happen or will it go like the Curragh did yesterday?

Honestly every game Daytona! I am as permanent a fixture as Dublin Gerry! That stadium looks good - it'd be great to see it come to fruition but as another poster said the Curragh situation doesn't bode well.

fair play jayo. Hopefully it does go ahead. it's been on the cards now for a couple of years. all talking and no action doesnt bode well either.

Willie the last time the Newbridge roar was heard was against Cavan in the Qualifiers and Kavanaghs last minute goal. There were 15 thousand people in the stadium that day which was double the average for all the other qualifiers. Newbridge has consistently gotten the highest attendances for league games for decades now. I wouldn't swap it for any other stadium in Ireland. Jayo dont mind Daytona he is always like this!
