i was gob smacked to hear mark mulligan wasnt even on the panel, i'd imagine if he trained hard and dedicated himself he'd make the senior team next year titus (Longford) - Posts: 390 - 31/03/2009 23:04:02 245011 Link 0 |
as far as i know Titus, Mark Mulligan had a very publicised row with team selector Kevin Hughues and was asked to leave the panel....hes a huge loss for the minors, without him on the team i would question there ability to get by the first round of the championship on saterday. young adam cuinnagham is the stand out player 4 this years minors..... jackinthebox212 (Longford) - Posts: 20 - 02/04/2009 18:38:12 246772 Link 0 |
Wouldnt expect this team to challenge like last years team but could be suprised. Although Crawford is lethal on his day and Darren Quinn a good ball carrier, dont see them carrying the same threat as say Mickey Quinn or JJ Matthews from last years team. Saying that, a well organised team playing to an effective game plan always stands a chance. Mondo (Longford) - Posts: 148 - 02/04/2009 21:46:38 246921 Link 0 |
Longford minors had a good win last night against a weakened Cavan side in Drumlish. They have a big midfield and John Keegan is very much a leader. Bernie Crawford was brilliant and posed problems for Cavan throughout, kicking some fine scores. Darren Quinn was also highly effective after a good start while Chippie Farrelly put in some great work at wing-forward. Thomas Kelly was impressive and picked up several breaking balls around the middle while Paddy Fox and Marty Mulvey were particularly prominent in defence. after watching adam cunningham for cnoc mhuire lately have to say he is a quality footballer. any reason he isnt playing with granard, certainly deserves a chance. young crawford was also surpurb for the school an after playing all of the championship last year still hasnt got a look in with hagan but he stil has alot to offer abbey. Good luck to the minors ! The public should come out and support these future stars before championship in 2 weeks. hitman (Longford) - Posts: 272 - 03/04/2009 17:29:01 247682 Link 0 |

ondaflop thats a bit harsh on young fellas. If John Keegan improves, and with his size, he will be playing for Longford within a couple of years. ChungLad (Longford) - Posts: 351 - 04/04/2009 08:58:03 248081 Link 0 |
thats such a stupid comment chunglad, you could say that about any lad. "if they improve" they could be become a great player. if i improve my knowledge of economics i could take the world out of this crisis! dromardabu (Longford) - Posts: 175 - 04/04/2009 14:32:48 248185 Link 0 |
come on chunglad get a grip of yourself lad. titus (Longford) - Posts: 390 - 04/04/2009 16:28:53 248210 Link 0 |
How is it a stupid comment? Longford have NO midfield and ye're tellin me that Keegan will never play county-if he starts playin club senior in the next couple of years, he will surely make a breakthrough in 3 years time with county. ChungLad (Longford) - Posts: 351 - 05/04/2009 08:52:14 248413 Link 0 |
Honestly dont think Keegan has what it takes to go on play senior county, I may eventully be mistaken but definitley wont be playing senior county in 2 or 3 years as a previous poster has suggested! Crawford is useful forward alright, did well with the convent in their run to All-Ireland final, would imagine he will be the main threat in inside forward line with Kelly and Darren Quinn carrying the threat in half forward line. titus, you wouldn't learn in 10 lifetimes what I know about football. Go back and listen to Declan Nerney ChungLad (Longford) - Posts: 351 - 06/04/2009 13:47:53 249425 Link 0 |
Ok thats stupid!!! J.Keegan has proved himself.....he was not picked captain for mel's and county by accident. He walked straight on to senior mel's team last year which was a good team and captained this years team. This is after making the difficult move from granard. He is an excellent leader.Just listen to him shoutin to the lads around him non stop making sure everyone has their head high....there is no better man for the job.He is improving with every game and will produce the goods against laois.Links up well with Crawford and Kelly and Farrelly. Always there to halp half bak line also.Last year were excellent but having seen this years team im quite optimistic, they can do well. Cullumn very good goalie, Fox and McGlouchlin strong at back.Excellent half back line with Mulvey moved back. You wont find a better partnership at midfield.Crawford, Kelly, Quinn, and Berry lethal upfront. Best of luck lads yup (Longford) - Posts: 24 - 06/04/2009 14:01:31 249455 Link 0 |
